Job summary

TriMas Packaging LLC in New Albany, OH, is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support production by maintaining electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, and to troubleshoot equipment on molding machines, punch presses, and automated assemblers.

You will perform preventive and predictive maintenance, read schematics, program PLCs, fabricate fixtures, and document equipment history while adhering to safety standards. The role is on-site with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Requires a 2-year technical degree or equivalent training.
• Experience with electrical safety and arc flash requirements.
• Knowledge of mechanical fabrication and precision tooling.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Proficiency with CMMS and Excel on Windows platforms.

Responsibilities

• Support maintenance for electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic systems on molding machines, punch presses, and automated assemblers.
• Troubleshoot and repair plant equipment using sound methods and quick fixes.
• Read and interpret schematics and ladder logic to diagnose issues.
• Fabricate chutes, fixtures, and tooling as needed.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance and source replacement parts.
• Document equipment history and communicate shift status to supervision.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Support production operations for all maintenance requirements, including electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic systems as scheduled for molding machines, punch presses and automated assemblers.
• Troubleshoot and maintain all plant equipment through the application of sound troubleshooting techniques and efficient repair methodology.
• Ability to adapt and improve issues with assembly processes.
• Ability to mechanically fabricate chutes and fixtures.
• Familiarity with vibratory feeder bowls and conveyers.
• Experienced on CAM driven continuous motion, high speed, automation equipment.
• Knowledgeable in PLC programming and electric wiring with the ability to make PLC changes on B&R, Siemens, Mitsubishi and Delta controllers.
• Camera Systems, Keyence and Cognex.
• Work from available drawing and equipment specifications and schematics.
• Perform preventive, predictive and routine inspection maintenance.
• Source purchased components and replacement tooling from approved vendors.
• Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
• Represent and promote TriMas in the community in a positive and professional manner.
• Document equipment history through appropriate systems with training.
• Communicate with the production shift personnel, Maintenance Manager on the current shift and off shifts. Communication to include, but not be limited to the shift status on issues and performance for all machines.
• Immediately report any unsafe or unhealthy working condition to your supervisor/leadership.

Physical Demands

• Capable of standing for long periods of time.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• 2-year Technical Degree
• Electrical safety and Arc Flash.
• Quality fabrication techniques.
• Effective communication and documentation.
• Computer- Excel, CMMS
• Ability to read hydraulic and electrical schematics and ladder logic.
• Able to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical diagrams including complex automated system drawings.
• Mechanical setup experience of tight tolerance tooling.
• Proper use of power tools and measuring equipment- must have and maintain all hand and test tools required to maintain automated equipment.
• Computer proficient- Microsoft Windows based computer operation.
• Must be able to work overtime as needed, sometimes on short notice or on weekends.
