Job summary

Tenneco is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform millwright, maintenance, electrical and machine repair duties across plant operations. You will work with a range of tools and systems to ensure equipment reliability and safety.

The role requires hands-on experience with welding, electrical troubleshooting, and reading blueprints, along with a strong focus on quality and timely completion of tasks. Effective communication and teamwork are essential for success.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
• Welding with TIG and understanding of fabrications.
• PLC troubleshooting and basic electrical knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical, mechanical and general maintenance tasks.
• Rigs, moves and installs machinery and drive units.
• Fabricate or repair using TIG, MIG, Stick welding.
• Maintain plant infrastructure and facilities including plumbing and drainage.
• Complete preventive maintenance and associated paperwork.
• Operate company vehicles to transport maintenance material as needed.
• Handle other duties as assigned by supervision.

This position will perform millwright, maintenance, electrical and machine repair principles. It further requires pipefitting, electrical, welding, mechanical/electrical knowledge and the ability to use precision measuring tools, blueprints, electrical test equipment and schematic drawings.

• The Maintenance Technician uses a variety of machine and hand tools in cutting, fitting, adjusting and fabricating parts for repair or replacement


• Installs and maintains hydraulic, electrical, air, gas. water, steam, fire systems and facility infrastructure equipment


• The Maintenance Technician performs PLC program trouble shooting on equipment, vision systems, robotics, motor controls and equipment repairs and installations

Job Duties:

• Performs a wide variety of electrical, general maintenance and repair duties throughout the plant


• Rigs, moves and installs all types of machinery, drive units and makes machine repairs


• Repairs and fabricates using Tig, Mig, Stick, acetylene/oxygen welding equipment as needed


• Maintains and repairs the physical structure of the plant buildings and related equipment such as doors, floors, ceilings, roof leaks, plumbing fixtures, sewers and drains


• Performs preventative maintenance on all machinery, equipment and facilities, completes required forms and paperwork as scheduled per PM Matrix


• Techs are responsible for leaving each job in a neat and orderly condition


• Operate company vehicles to transport maintenance material as required


• Other duties may include limited guidance duties (i.e., answering the phone, redirecting employee questions and informing operators how long machines may be down, etc.) in the absence of a supervisor


• Other duties as assigned

Knowledge & Skills:

• Basic computer skills needed for PLC electrical trouble shooting, programming and other maintenance related programs

• Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings


• Working knowledge of gages such as dial calipers, micrometers, indicators, etc.


• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing


• Ability to interact with employees in a professional manner


• Ability to speak and write English fluently


• Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness


• Ability to perform mathematical computations such as percentages, fractions, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division quickly and accurately


• Maintenance Tech. shall require hazardous waste management training and contingency plan review, which will be given within 30 days of assuming the position and will be given annually thereafter.

Physical Demands

This position requires manual dexterity to properly and safely manipulate tools and controls. This position requires frequent walking and standing; occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
