Job summary

REN Seafoods in Mobile, AL seeks a Maintenance Technician to perform preventative maintenance and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems in a food processing facility.

You will read blueprints, set up production equipment, and ensure safety and quality standards while working with automation, hydraulics, and conveyors.

Occasional overtime may apply; prior food packaging experience is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

  • Good mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Ability to read, write and do basic arithmetic functions.
  • Basic understanding of equipment manuals and electrical schematics.
  • Demonstrated success in troubleshooting and problem solving.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic/pneumatic systems, computers & information technology, switches, PLCs, and building electrical.
  • Proven experience as an Automation Technician or similar role.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
  • Willingness to work varying hours.
  • Food packaging experience preferred but not required.
  • 2–5 years’ experience in a similar work environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Certificate in electrical or relevant field is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Disassemble and assemble production equipment for replacement of worn or broken parts.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment by cleaning, lubricating and/or replacing worn parts.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Install and maintain automated systems and machinery.
  • Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in machinery electrical and automation systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance checks on automated systems.
  • Conduct tests on machinery to gauge performance and functionality.
  • Program and set-up production equipment to meet required parameters.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and manuals.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of automation processes.
  • Replace and/or repair electrical devices and equipment up to 480 volts, including motors, proximity switches, conveyors.
  • Perform equipment setups and changeovers for packaging equipment.
  • Complete tasks timely, accurately while adhering to safety, food safety, quality, and legal regulations.
  • Work in accordance with EH&S standards and facility rules.

REN Seafoods is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Maintenance Technician. The primary responsibility of this role is to perform preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on electrical and mechanical equipment in accordance with company and industry standards. The ideal candidate is passionate about solving problems, possesses a strong attention to detail and technical aptitude.

Responsibilities

  • Must be willing and able to work varying hours.
  • Previous food packaging experience is preferred but not required.
  • Prefer 2 to 5 years’ experience in a similar work environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Certificate in electrical, or relevant field will be a plus.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands
  • Lift 25 lbs. frequently with a maximum of 75 lbs. occasionally.
  • Work in a cold and wet food processing and manufacturing facility with temperatures around 40 degrees (may vary depending on work area).
  • Clim a and work from ladders up to 15 ft.
  • Stand/walk for up to 12 hours a day.
  • Work in close proximity to oils, solvents, and chemicals used in production equipment.
  • When required, perform repairs on rooftops or outdoors in inclement weather.
