Job summary

Winland Foods is seeking a Maintenance Team Member to ensure reliability, safety, and efficiency of operations at its Milwaukee facility.

Role covers entry to advanced tasks including troubleshooting, fabrication, and preventative maintenance programs while upholding food safety and quality standards. Schedule: Mon–Fri, 10:30pm–7:00am; Salary: $40.50/hr plus $0.75 shift premium.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; 1+ year experience in manufacturing or food production preferred.
  • Forklift certification preferred (required for Advanced Level) or willingness to obtain.
  • Must be 18+ years of age.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and shift work as described.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Assist with machine setup, equipment modifications, and rebuilds to ensure optimal performance.
  • Maintain documentation in CMMS systems.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and GMPs/food safety standards.

Responsibilities
  • Schedule and shift work as described above
  • Schedule maintenance and repairs on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems

  • Collaborate with team members and leadership to resolve equipment issues and minimize downtime
  • Support inventory of spare parts and preventive maintenance tasks
  • Perform basic welding, fabrication, and millwright activities such as cutting, grinding, and simple assembly
  • Assist with basic building upkeep tasks including plumbing, HVAC, and water treatment systems
  • Follow LOTO, confined space, and hot work practices while maintaining hazard‑free work areas
  • Monitor production lines and support equipment changeovers

Qualifications
  • Education & Experience: High School Diploma or GED required; minimum 1 year of work experience, preferably in manufacturing or food production; forklift certification preferred (required for Advanced Level) or willingness to obtain certification; 18+ years of age
  • Technical & Mechanical Skills: Ability to follow verbal and written instruction, perform accurate math functions, use basic hand and power tools, knowledge of mechanical aptitude; understand and abide by Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and Good Manufacturing Principles (GMPs)
  • Knowledge of GMPs, SQF, HACCP, FSMA, and other food safety regulations; commitment to following all company safety policies and procedures
  • Must wear required PPE; follow lock‑out/tag‑out, safe lifting techniques, and other safety policies
  • Teamwork, Communication & Leadership: Assumes leadership role, sets positive example, works well with others; engages in on‑the‑job training
  • Personal Attributes & Work Ethic: Strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, multitasking in a fast‑paced environment; accountability for quality, attendance, continuous improvement; dependable and reliable; able to work mandatory overtime including Saturdays/Sundays as determined by business needs
Physical Demands
  • Stand and walk for extended periods; frequent climbing, pulling, pushing, carrying, grasping, reaching, twisting, turning, stooping
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs frequently; good hand‑eye coordination, motor skills, and 20/20 corrected vision
  • Normal hearing and vision (with correction if needed); ability to distinguish colors for color‑coded containers in production areas
  • Work in wet, humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, high areas, fumes, airborne particles, extreme temperatures, electrical risks, vibrations depending on area assigned
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment; report any food safety or quality issues immediately to management
