Maintenance Technician – Madison Heights, MI

You'll also collaborate with a supportive team of peers, some of whom may be located at other Ionbond facilities, giving you the opportunity to develop your skills and carve out your own area of specialization. Experience with vacuum technology is a plus, but don’t worry—we’re ready to provide training if needed. All we ask is a strong understanding of electrical and mechanical engineering principles, a willingness to learn, and a proactive approach to preventative maintenance. What defines this job?

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on equipment, clean line, and other plant machinery to ensure optimal operation.
  • Accurately document and maintain records of equipment notifications, maintenance histories, and technical drawings, including blueprints and schematics
  • Troubleshoot and repair vacuum systems, demonstrating confidence and proficiency in working with high-voltage components.
  • Assess repair and maintenance needs, prioritizing actions to minimize downtime and optimize equipment reliability.
  • Monitor equipment performance and uptime, developing and implementing strategies to reduce breakdowns and improve operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with managers and process engineers to effectively address manufacturing interruptions, inconsistent process results, and equipment downtime.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace, supporting the 6S Program and fostering a culture of safety and organization.
  • Perform additional duties as needed.

What do we ask?

Must have a minimum of 3 years industrial manufacturing environment maintenance experience. Degree/Certification in Engineering, Technical or Trade education preferred; diploma/GED minimum required education. Experience with Vacuum Technology. Strong ability with understanding failure mechanisms, ability to isolate determine root cause, and repair. Strong electrical skills. Working knowledge of control systems, PLC controls. Able to work independently, is a self-starter, and is highly motivated to complete projects and meet deadlines. Possess good communication skills; able to clearly communicate with peers, management, and suppliers, both verbally and in email communication. Available to work overtime and weekends as required. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and pass a criminal background check and physical screening. Able to travel on occasion to other U.S. Centers and internationally as needed.
