Job summary

Nucor, North America's leading steel and steel products manufacturer, is seeking an Industrial Mechanic to maintain presses and production equipment in a safety‑driven facility. You will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and support quality and uptime across multiple lines.

The role requires 1 year of industrial mechanic experience or an accredited program, ability to read blueprints, and willingness to work any shift, overtime, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience as an industrial mechanic in a manufacturing facility, or completion of an accredited industrial technician schooling program.
• Experience with equipment maintenance, technical understanding, and zeal.
• Familiarity with drafting and understanding blueprints and schematics.
• Must be able to work any shift as required, overtime, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Maintains operation of presses and production machinery by performing preventive maintenance per manuals and specs.
• Locates problems by observing equipment, listening, and using precision instruments.
• Removes defective parts using hoists, cranes, and tools; inspects parts.
• Determines dimensional changes by inspecting parts in the onsite machine shop.
• Adjusts device parts using hand tools and levels.
• Controls downtime by coordinating preventive maintenance.
• Maintains inventories of equipment, parts, and supplies; informs supervisor when stock is low.
• Conserves resources by efficient tool use.
• Maintains production and quality by ensuring machinery operates correctly.
• Other duties as assigned.

Compensation: $28.48 - 32.96 per hour (based on experience), plus weekly production bonus.

Potential compensation with bonus: 0-50%; $42.72 - $49.55 per hour.

Basic Job Functions:

• Ensures machinery and mechanical equipment operation by completing preventive maintenance requirements on presses, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
• Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
• Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
• Determine the dimensional changes in the parts requirements by inspecting and using the onsite Machine Shop.
• Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
• Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
• Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; informs Supervisor when removed from inventory.
• Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
• Maintains production and quality by ensuring the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 1 year of experience as an industrial mechanic in a manufacturing facility, or completion of an accredited industrial technician schooling program.
• Experience with equipment maintenance, technical understanding, and zeal.
• Familiarity with drafting and understanding blueprints and schematics.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2-3 years of experience as an industrial mechanic in a manufacturing facility.
• Industrial Electrical experience, a plus.
