You will develop skills across mechanical, electrical, and welding tasks, read schematics, use hand and power tools, and participate in preventive maintenance while upholding Altek's quality policy and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Mold press experience preferred.
  • CNC Machine Tool experience preferred.
  • Electrical/hydraulic/mechanical experience preferred.
  • Ability to read mechanical and electrical schematics and manuals.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative.
  • Ability to manage workload and changing priorities.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to follow directions.
  • Physically able to meet all the requirements of the position.
  • Ability to use various hand and power tools.
  • Certified or willingness to be certified to operate a forklift.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, repair, and rebuild a wide range of complex machine tools, special-purpose machines, and plant equipment including automated and assembly machinery to ensure product quality and cost efficiency.
  • Diagnose issues, disassemble equipment, and assess the extent of necessary repairs.
  • Repair, refit, or replace components using high-quality replacement parts.
  • Plan and execute advanced machining operations.
  • Layout, install, and maintain diverse electrical equipment including motors, motor-generator sets, rectifiers, transformers, process controls, relays, circuit breakers, and electronic devices.
  • Install power, lighting, electronic, and control circuits and related apparatus.
  • Prioritize tasks and equipment failures while coordinating and performing preventive maintenance.
  • Fabrication and welding techniques.
  • Attend all training and classes to expand knowledge, skills, and experience as directed for departmental growth.
  • Builds and maintains positive rapport with other Altek employees, customers and/or suppliers.
  • Exhibits positive communication and behavior skills.
  • Adapts and modifies as circumstances warrant.
  • Demonstrates safe work habits.
  • Maintains a clean, organized work environment.
  • Embraces Altek's Quality Policy to ensure quality to internal and external customers.

SUMMARY: The Maintenance Apprentice is responsible for gaining comprehensive hands‑on training in installing, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing a wide range of complex machinery and electrical equipment; promoting teamwork through behavior, acting in accordance with Altek’s Policies and adhering to the goals and expectations defined by management.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Learns to diagnose issues, disassemble equipment, and assess the extent of necessary repairs

  • Learns to select materials and plan and execute advanced machining operations
  • Learns to layout, install, and maintain diverse electrical equipment including motors, motor‑generator sets, rectifiers, transformers, process controls, relays, circuit breakers, and electronic devices
