Job summary

An international automotive parts supplier in Michigan is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic. The ideal candidate will repair and maintain stamping presses and various production equipment. Responsibilities include following safety protocols and performing basic plumbing and electrical maintenance. Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in manufacturing, preferably in the automotive sector. Advanced technical training and a strong background in mechanical troubleshooting are required. This role offers a collaborative work environment focused on continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Advanced technical training in electrical, mechanical, pneumatics, hydraulics, and PLCs.
  • 5 years previous employment in a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive.
  • 5 years previous employment in a manufacturing environment – automotive preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain stamping presses and servo feeding equipment.
  • Perform plumbing basic repairs and maintenance of air compressors.
  • Follow Standardized Work Instructions and OSHA safety rules.
  • Maintenance of air compressors and air driers.
  • Conveyor systems air, electric and vibro units.
  • Hydraulic pumps, trash pumps, oil pumps.
  • Welding arc, mig, tig and spot basic knowledge.
  • Manlifts, ladders, roof work, and outside work.
  • Must follow all OSHA and plant safety rules including lock‑out tag‑out, etc.
  • Rebuilding of cylinders and pumps of all kinds.
  • Fabricating of scrap trays, chutes, and work benches.
  • Supports the teams in operational improvement.
  • Develops Initial Standard Work Practices with the teams.
  • Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance and repairs of production equipment during machine service.
  • Prepares and sets up machinery for scheduled production runs.
  • Performs mechanical skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
  • Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.

JOB SUMMARY

Repair and maintain stamping presses, servo feeding equipment, assembly and machining centers, robotic welders and general building electrical maintenance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • 1. Follow Standardized Work Instructions.
  • 2. Mechanical maintenance of large stamping presses and feed line equipment.
  • 3. Plumbing basic repair, replace drains, run pipe threader.
  • 4. Maintenance of air compressors and air driers.
  • 5. Conveyor systems air, electric and vibro units.
  • 6. Hydraulic pumps, trash pumps, oil pumps.
  • 7. Welding arc, mig, tig and spot basic knowledge.
  • 8. Manlifts, ladders, roof work, and outside work.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • 1. HS diploma/GED + advanced technical training in electrical, mechanical, pneumatics, hydraulics, and PLCs.
  • 2. Prefer USDOL Journeyman’s certificate or equivalent work experience or skills training.
  • 3. 5 years previous employment in a manufacturing environment – automotive preferred.
