Job summary

Equity Property Management in Lafayette, IN is seeking a full-time Maintenance Technician for an apartment community. You will perform routine maintenance, handle plumbing, electrical, drywall and painting tasks, and support HVAC operations under the supervision of the Property Manager.

The role requires a strong work ethic, ability to lift heavy items, valid driver's license, and willingness to work overtime and on-call shifts. HVAC certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in routine maintenance and repair of buildings and grounds including electrical and plumbing background.
• Valid Driver's License and auto insurance.
• HVAC Certification is preferred but not required.
• Must be detail and multi-task oriented with strong motivation, team building and time management skills.
• Must be able to lift and work with heavy equipment.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain electrical circuits, switches, outlets and lighting fixtures.
• Repair, install and maintain plumbing fixtures such as water heaters, lavatories, toilets and dishwashers.
• Perform routine maintenance and repair of apartment buildings and grounds.
• Repair and maintain building exteriors, shingles, doors, windows, etc.
• Install drywall, trim, counters, appliances, etc. to vacant units on turn.
• Be willing to work overtime and on-call shifts as well as emergencies.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with supervisors, coworkers, residents and others.
• Work effectively as a team member and participate actively.
• Follow safety procedures for operation of equipment, machinery and hazardous substances.

Job description

A well-respected regional Owner/Property Management Company is looking for a full-time Maintenance Technician for an apartment community located in Lafayette, IN. Candidates will work under the direction of the Property Manager. We are looking for an individual with experience in general maintenance as well as an interest and experience in specialties such as plumbing, electrical, drywall and painting and a strong skill set in HVAC is preferred. Only motivated/self-starters should apply for these positions.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain simple electrical circuits, switches, outlets and lighting fixtures.
• Repair, install and maintain basic plumbing fixtures such as water heaters, lavatories, toilets and dishwashers.
• Perform routine maintenance and repair of apartment buildings and grounds.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee frequently is required to walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is regularly required to stand. The employee must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including electronic and diagnostic tools and recovery equipment. Manipulate cumbersome items like two stage snow blowers, carry and raise ladders, use appropriate force on counter top removal, using pry bars and sledge hammers, reach into ceilings and walls and apply force to shut off valves, remove sheetrock, etc. Individual must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently.
