Job summary

Homestead of Knoxville is seeking a maintenance technician to repair and maintain the community’s building, equipment, and grounds. You will perform painting, tile work, furniture repairs, and electrical/plumbing upkeep while ensuring safety procedures are followed.

Responsibilities include organizing fire drills, maintaining equipment such as boilers and HVAC systems, and providing 24-hour maintenance availability.

  • Comply with the Facility's personnel, safety, and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Treat residents, visitors, and team members with respect and dignity.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all resident information.
  • Report to work on time and as scheduled.
  • Maintain complex grounds free of hazards, debris and clutter; sidewalks and drives free of snow, ice, leaves and in good repair.
  • Maintain the building including painting, tile replacement, furniture repair, locks, baseboards, trim, windows, etc.
  • Ensure electrical systems and appliances are in good working order.
  • Ensure plumbing is in good repair.
  • Organize fire drills and inspect fire safety equipment regularly.
  • Maintain complex equipment including washers, dryers, boilers, A/Cs, furnaces and lawn mowers.
  • Ensure compliance with Iowa and Federal regulations including hazardous materials, fire safety, and building, electric and plumbing codes.
  • Staff the maintenance department, including hiring, orienting, and disciplining employees.
  • Maintain budgeting records and inform property manager before overspending.
  • Provide 24-hour availability of maintenance services.

Homestead of Knoxville is looking for a new maintenance technician that will be responsible for repairs, maintains physical structure, equipment and grounds of our community.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Comply with the Facility's personnel, safety, and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Treat residents, visitors, and team members with respect and dignity.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all resident information.
  • Report to work on time and as scheduled.
  • Complex grounds must be maintained in an orderly fashion; free from hazards, debris and clutter. Sidewalks and drives must be free from snow, ice, leaves and in good repair.
  • Responsible for maintaining the building including but not limited to painting, replacing worn or stained tiles, repairing furniture, locks, baseboards, trim, windows, etc.
  • Responsible for assuring the electrical system and all electrical appliances are in good working condition.
  • Responsible for assuring that all plumbing is in working order and in good repair.
  • Responsible for organizing fire drills and assuring that all fire safety equipment is in working order and is inspected on a regular schedule.
  • Maintain all complex equipment including but not limited to washers, dryers, boilers, air conditioners, furnaces and lawn mowers.
  • Assures staff comply with all Iowa and Federal regulations including hazardous materials, fire safety, and building, electric and plumbing codes.
  • Responsible for staffing the maintenance department. Follows the complex policies when hiring, orienting, and disciplining employees.
  • Maintains and keeps accurate accounting for all budgets assigned, and informs property manager prior to spending monies in excess of the budget.
  • Assures 24-hour availability of service for maintenance emergencies.
