Job Description

A Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas in good repair. A facility engineer is competent in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, painting, wall coverings, masonry, and other trades to ensure an attractive and well-maintained hotel. The person in this role must be able to support our teams as needed and live our culture and mission.

The job is simple:

Focus on ways to promote internal growth programs; continuously exemplify and live by our Culture; and meet/exceed company goals and three metrics.

Responsibilities
  • Complete all required training
  • Adhere to all standard operating procedures and property-specific brand standards
  • Perform any other duties as requested by management to aid in better operation of the hotel and service to the guests
  • Have knowledge of fire alarm system and evacuation procedures
  • Repair or replace items such as light bulbs, lamps, switches, outlets, faucets, toilets, hardware, filters, paint, furniture, wall coverings, caulking, grouting or other miscellaneous items
  • Maintain a record of repairs performed, repairs calendared and pending, and repairs needing evaluation
  • Inspect guestrooms, public space and back of the house to evaluate for areas to repair, touch up or replace
  • Assist other department team members in the systematic application of the preventive maintenance program
  • Have basic mechanical aptitude for the operation and repair of hotel facilities and equipment
  • Have working knowledge of basic hand and power tools
  • Be responsible for safety and security of guests, fellow associates, and hotel assets in conjunction with hotel management
  • Keep confidential the business functions of the company including, but not limited to, financial status, customer/guest information, associate issues, etc.
Necessary Skills
  • Able to communicate effectively in writing, by telephone and in person
  • Able to report to scheduled shifts
  • Able to work a flexible schedule. We are a 24/7 business which may require work availability of nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Maintain a clean and attractive work area, uniform, and person
  • Is organized, honest, and works well with others
  • Can provide personalized, friendly service to every guest and associate
  • Has the highest degree of integrity and is humble, living by the Golden Rule
  • Able to work with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds

  • Be able to bend, reach, kneel, push, and stretch and lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds
  • Can perform work for 8 hours and work in a restrictive space/environment
  • Must have eyesight enabling vision both near and far
  • Must be comfortable using a step stool or ladder
  • Must be able to use/lift arms for up to 8 hours
  • Must be able to handle heat and stress
  • Able to work in varying weather conditions such as heat, cold, rain, etc.
  • Have finger dexterity for operating equipment
  • Must speak in a clear, understandable voice, hear at a basic level, and understand English
  • Must be able to write
