Job summary

Aerotek is seeking a Maintenance Technician in Kansas to join a manufacturing team. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose equipment issues, and repair mechanical, electrical/electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to keep production running safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities include reading schematics, using PLC and electrical troubleshooting methods, and maintaining accurate maintenance records. The role supports weekend and off-shift needs as required.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical theories and principles.
  • Hands-on maintenance and repair of mechanical systems.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance on production equipment.
  • Ability to read schematics and troubleshoot electrical/mechanical systems.
  • Experience with 3-phase electrical systems (480 V).
  • Licensed Electrician preferred or required depending on site.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct maintenance, testing, and repairs on mechanical, electrical/electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Diagnose equipment issues and determine root causes of malfunctions.
  • Read and interpret technical specifications; ensure compliance with codes.
  • Install, start up, and shut down equipment per safety procedures and OSHA.
  • Advise operators on safe procedures for equipment use.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records for production equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Communicate with Maintenance Safety Supervisor about status and safety concerns.
  • Ensure equipment is properly maintained and running safely.
  • Use PLC and electrical troubleshooting techniques to resolve problems.
  • Perform mechanical repairs and adjustments to restore operation.
  • Follow safety policies and keep a clean, safe work environment.
  • Lift and move equipment using safe lifting practices.
  • Work independently and as part of a team; support weekend/off-shift needs.

Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Job Description

The Maintenance Technician works as part of a team to conduct, maintain, test, and repair mechanical, electrical/electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and components in a manufacturing environment. This role applies strong mechanical and electrical/electronic knowledge to diagnose equipment malfunctions and restore machinery to safe, efficient operation. The Maintenance Technician provides skilled support to all areas of manufacturing, ensuring production equipment remains reliable and available.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct maintenance, testing, and repairs on mechanical, electrical/electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and components.
  • Apply electrical/electronic and mechanical theories and principles to diagnose equipment issues and determine root causes of malfunctions.
  • Write or interpret technical specifications and ensure work complies with local and national electrical codes.
  • Install, start up, and shut down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures and OSHA requirements for machine activation and shutdown.
  • Advise equipment operators on proper operating procedures and safe work practices when using electrical/electronic and mechanical equipment and components.
  • Maintain accurate performance and maintenance records for designated production equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance functions to minimize unplanned downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Communicate effectively with the Maintenance Safety Supervisor regarding equipment status, issues, and safety concerns.
  • Ensure all production equipment is properly maintained, operating safely, and running efficiently.
  • Use troubleshooting techniques, including reading schematics and using PLC and electrical troubleshooting methods, to identify and resolve equipment problems.
  • Perform mechanical repairs and adjustments to restore equipment to proper operating condition.
  • Follow all safety policies and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
  • Lift, move, and handle equipment or components as required, using safe lifting practices.
  • Work both independently and as part of a team to complete assigned maintenance tasks within required timeframes.
  • Support weekend and off-shift maintenance needs as required by the production schedule.
Essential Skills
  • Strong knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical theories and principles.
  • Hands-on experience with maintenance and repair of mechanical systems.
  • Experience performing preventive maintenance on production equipment.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting skills in electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Experience with 3-phase electrical systems, including 3-phase, 480 volts.
  • Ability to perform mechanical repair and adjustments on industrial equipment.
  • Experience with electrical systems and components in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics, including troubleshooting and repair.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical documentation.
  • Experience with PLC troubleshooting and electrical troubleshooting techniques.
  • Ability to maintain a safe work environment and follow safety procedures.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Licensed Electrician (license to Electrician).
  • Ability to use hands and arms in repetitive motion for extended periods.
  • Ability to walk and remain on feet for the duration of the shift.
  • Weekend flexibility to support production and maintenance needs.
  • Strong technical capacity to understand and work with complex equipment.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills to diagnose and resolve issues effectively.
  • Ability to work effectively on a team.
  • Ability to work independently and stay on task with minimal supervision.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • Prior experience with measuring tools is a plus.
  • Additional experience working with 3-phase, 480-volt systems is preferred.
  • Familiarity with climate-controlled manufacturing environments.
  • Comfort working on second or third shift schedules.
