Job summary

Building and Land Technology in Jersey City, NJ is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support the upkeep of a luxury community. You will perform hands-on maintenance tasks, assist with make-ready apartments, and help maintain mechanical systems.

This role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, 1+ year of related experience, and a willingness to work evenings or weekends. Training in trades or certifications are a plus, with competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; trade/technical schooling a plus.
• 1+ year of hands-on experience in painting, cleaning, plumbing, carpentry or related maintenance.
• Willingness to obtain Fire Safety Manager Certification or HVAC/CFC certifications may be preferred.
• Computer knowledge to generate work orders in property management software.

Responsibilities

• Assist in completing work in make-ready apartments including painting, drywall, cleaning, and general maintenance.
• Perform preventive maintenance and routine community inspections as requested.
• Maintain grounds and keep common areas clean.
• Assist with HVAC, plumbing, and electrical maintenance of mechanical equipment.
• Suggest repairs or replacements for interior and exterior areas.
• Adhere to Fair Housing laws and standards.

About this position

Maintenance Technician
Location: Jersey City
Join BLT’s team of dedicated professionals as aMaintenance Technician. This position performs various hands-on maintenance duties necessary to maintain and enhance the value of our luxury community located in Jersey City, NJ.

Duties & Responsibilities of the Maintenance Technician:

• Assists in completing work in “make-ready” apartments, including but not limited to painting, drywall repair, cleaning carpets floors and windows, general maintenance repairs and housekeeping
• Performs preventive maintenance and regular community inspections as requested by the Maintenance Manager
• Maintains grounds, keeping common areas free of trash and debris
• Helps maintain all mechanical equipment including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical
• Recommends the repair or replacement of any interior and exterior areas
• Understands and complies with Fair Housing laws and standards

Requirements of the Position of Maintenance Technician:

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred, trade and/or technical school training a plus
• Minimum 1+ year of hands-on experience in painting, cleaning, plumbing, carpentry,or similar maintenance related field of work
• Fire Safety Manager Certification preferred, or willingness to obtain upon hire
• Computer knowledge with the ability to generate work orders using a property management software system
• Must be able to lift and work with heavy equipment
• Valid driver’s license and auto insurance
• EPA, CPO, HVAC and CFC certifications are a plus
• Eveningand weekend work may be required

Salary Information
