Willcox Matthews is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician for a full-time, permanent role in Jamestown, NC. The position focuses on industrial electrical maintenance, troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment, motors, drives, and instrumentation to ensure safe, efficient operations.

Pay: Up to $32.00 per hour depending on experience

3rd Shift Premium: Additional $1.50 per hour

Potential Hourly Rate: Up to $33.50 per hour

Sign-On Bonus: $1,000

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Maintenance Technician to join a well-established manufacturing operation in Jamestown, NC.

This is an excellent opportunity for an industrial maintenance professional with strong electrical troubleshooting skills who is comfortable working with PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment, motors, drives, instrumentation and electrical control systems.

The position will be based on 3rd shift, working 10:00 PM–6:30 AM. Successful candidates will initially complete approximately 4–8 weeks of training on 1st shift before transitioning onto the permanent 3rd-shift schedule.

The successful Maintenance Technician will play an important role in maintaining production equipment, minimizing downtime and ensuring machinery operates safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair and maintain industrial production equipment
• Perform electrical troubleshooting on manufacturing machinery and associated systems
• Use electrical test equipment to diagnose circuits, components and equipment
• Install and troubleshoot electrical wiring, conduit, breakers, fuses, switches, starters and motors
• Install, service, replace and repair electrical and electronic equipment
• Understand PLC operation and use ladder logic diagrams during troubleshooting
• Troubleshoot electrical control circuits and automated equipment
• Specify, install, maintain and troubleshoot AC and DC motors
• Install, maintain and troubleshoot motor drives and VFDs
• Wire electrical control cabinets from drawings and schematics
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings, manuals and technical bulletins
• Install, repair and maintain instrumentation and electronic devices
• Perform and document calibration of instrumentation, scales and balances
• Carry out electrical preventive maintenance activities
• Complete scheduled preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance work
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and production issues in a timely manner
• Identify faults and determine appropriate repair solutions
• Complete maintenance work orders and associated documentation accurately
• Operate maintenance shop equipment safely
• Support equipment installation, modification and improvement projects
• Maintain appropriate hand tools and maintenance equipment
• Follow electrical and plant safety procedures at all times
• Maintain good housekeeping standards throughout the maintenance shop and production facility
• Operate forklifts, scissor lifts and boom lifts where required
• Work safely from ladders and elevated positions when necessary
• Support continuous improvement, equipment reliability and downtime reduction initiatives

Required Experience

We are interested in speaking with candidates who have a strong background in industrial or manufacturing maintenance.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Industrial Maintenance or a related technical field is preferred
• OR
• High school diploma/GED with approximately 3–5 years of relevant industrial maintenance experience and/or technical training
• OR
• An equivalent combination of education, technical training and relevant industrial maintenance experience

Candidates with strong hands‑on industrial electrical experience are particularly encouraged to apply.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift approximately 30 lbs overhead when required
• Ability to climb ladders and work safely at height
• Ability to work within an active industrial manufacturing environment
• Ability to operate appropriate material handling and access equipment following training and authorization

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be a hands‑on Maintenance Technician who is confident diagnosing problems rather than simply replacing components.

You should be comfortable working independently on electrical and mechanical faults and have a good understanding of how PLCs, motors, drives, instrumentation and electrical control systems interact within manufacturing equipment.
