Job summary

ALPLA in Iowa City is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform equipment installation, preventive maintenance, and routine repairs on molding and production machinery. You will support predictive maintenance efforts and collaborate with the facilities team to maintain a safe, efficient production area.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, plus a 2-year technical degree or relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
• Two-year technical degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• Knowledge of industrial maintenance safety practices.
• Basic mechanical understanding and repair capability.
• Familiarity with hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Strong problem-solving and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Equipment installation and preventative maintenance.
• Set up proprietary ALPLA equipment.
• Perform regular preventive maintenance tasks on machinery to ensure optimal functionality and prolong equipment lifespan.
• Perform adjustments to machinery to enhance performance and accommodate specific production requirements.
• Use predictive maintenance methodologies and diagnostics to identify issues before downtime.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair molding machines with technical guidance.
• Assist facilities team with general maintenance and creating a safe, organized work environment.

What Will You Enjoy Doing

• Equipment installation and preventative maintenance:
• Set up proprietary ALPLA equipment
• Conduct regular preventive maintenance tasks on machinery to ensure optimal functionality and prolong equipment lifespan.

• Performs predictive maintenance:

• Troubleshooting and repairs:
  • Diagnose technical problems and malfunctions in molding machines using a systematic approach to identify root causes accurately.
  • Collaborate with technical experts and utilize troubleshooting techniques to address routine issues effectively and efficiently.
  • Execute repairs on molding machines, both independently and with technical guidance, restoring equipment functionality promptly to minimize production interruptions.
• Facility Maintenance Support:
  • Contribute to general facility maintenance tasks beyond equipment-specific responsibilities.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and organized working environment by addressing facility-related issues and supporting maintenance efforts in shared spaces.
  • Collaborate with the facilities team to ensure a well‑maintained and conducive production environment for seamless operations.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Min High School Diploma or equivalent required
• 2-year technical degree or equivalent experience at ALPLA or similar industry required
• Knowledge of Industrial Maintenance Safety
• Basic mechanical understanding and repair capability
• Basic understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics
• Knowledge of occupational math skills for measurements and calculations
• Problem-solving and team collaboration capabilities
