Job summary

Schwarze Industries, a member of Alamo Group, is seeking a Maintenance Manager to oversee maintenance operations across multiple facilities at the Huntsville, AL campus. The role focuses on preventive maintenance, team leadership, and coordinating repairs to ensure safe, efficient production.

The position requires experience with fabrication equipment, strong机械 aptitude, and the ability to manage budgets, vendors, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum five years in related maintenance field.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience with fabrication equipment and facility systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for fabrication equipment.
• Lead and manage the maintenance team to ensure timely responses to breakdowns.
• Coordinate repairs and maintenance of campus facilities.
• Maintain records of maintenance activities and inspections.
• Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Safety teams to reduce downtime.
• Manage vendor relationships and oversee external contractors.
• Ensure OSHA and related regulatory compliance for equipment safety.
• Monitor budgets and procure parts, tools, and supplies.
• Conduct regular inspections to address potential issues.
• Support capital improvement projects and facility upgrades.
• Provide daily/bidaily status updates on equipment progress.
• May assist other departments as needed.

Job description

Under minimal supervision, the Maintenance Manager is responsible for planning,coordinating, and executing maintenance operations across multiple facilities on theSchwarzes Industries campus. This includes overseeing the upkeep and repair of fabricationequipment, assembly lines, and facility infrastructure to ensure optimal performance,safety, and compliance with company standards.

Essential Functions of the Job:

• Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for fabrication equipmentincluding laser cutters, press brakes, forklifts, and other production machinery.
• Lead and manage the maintenance team to ensure a timely response to equipmentbreakdowns and facility repair needs.
• Coordinate and supervise repairs and maintenance of all campus facilities, includingfabrication shops, assembly lines, offices, restrooms, and common areas.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment service logs, and facilityinspections.
• Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Safety teams to minimize downtime andsupport continuous improvement initiatives.
• Manage vendor relationships and oversee external contractors for specializedmaintenance and repair services.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards related to equipmentsafety and facility maintenance.
• Monitor and manage maintenance budgets, including procurement of parts, tools, andsupplies.
• Conduct regular inspections of equipment and facilities to identify and address potentialissues proactively.
• Support capital improvement projects and facility upgrades as needed.
• Provide daily/bi-daily status updates on equipment and verification that all task prerequisites have been met and task are on track to eta's provided.
• May assist other departments as needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s):

Good mechanical aptitude.

Good mechanical ability/aptitude. Basic math skills and computer data entry skills.

General knowledge and familiarity with all machines and machine shop equipment including shop tools, forklifts, cranes, welding machines, hoist, and air compressor.

Knowledge of electrical equipment and repairs, plumbing, welding, basic HVAC, and pneumatics.

Problem solving and troubleshooting skills.

Good communication skills, both verbal and written. Able to read and interpret operation and parts manuals.

Ability to operate forklift, man lift and overhead crane.

Able to climb stairs/ladders up to 25 feet. Able to work indoors/outdoors.

Able to work overtime and/or weekends as scheduled.

Able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including steel toe shoes, hearing protection devices and safety glasses.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or GED certificate preferred.

Minimum five (5) years’ experience in related field.

Working Conditions: Must be physically capable of lifting 51 lbs., on a regular basis for 8-10 hour shift(s.) Continuous standing.
