Job summary

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years of industrial maintenance or automotive experience, strong mechanical skills, and familiarity with blueprints, PLCs and welding equipment. Role involves safe work practices and overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of industrial maintenance or automotive mechanic experience, preferably in food industry.
• Mechanically inclined with ability to diagnose and repair equipment.
• Experience reading blueprints, diagrams and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Execute preventative maintenance program on all equipment, building and machinery.
• Conduct diagnostic checks, troubleshooting and repair plant-wide (mechanical, electrical, PLCs).
• Clean, lubricate and perform routine maintenance on machinery.
• Operate welding equipment and power tools as required.
• Perform general building maintenance.
• Maintain safety in compliance with company policies and health and safety laws.
• Report health and safety risks to Operations Manager.
• Other duties as required by the Operations Manager.

Job description

OBJECTIVE

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Maintenance Technician will be responsible for day-to-day equipment preventative maintenance and troubleshooting wherever required within the Houston facilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

• 
  Current CWB license/ticket (SMAW, GMAW/MIG, GTAW/TIG) an asset
• 
  Current license for Forklift, Skyjack, Fall Arrest an asset.

Experience & Skills:

• 
  1-2 years’ experience in an industrial maintenance or automotive mechanic role, preferably within the food industry
• 
  Mechanically inclined
• 
  Experience reading, comprehending and utilizing blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings.
• 
  Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and perform maintenance on various equipment.
• 
  Ability to work at heights and within confined spaces.
• 
  Knowledge and understanding in the use of conveyors, PLCs, welding processes and equipment, drill press, packaging machinery, trailers, scales, grinders, hand and power tools, impact guns, bench grinders, and band saws
• 
  Good knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations
• 
  Proficient in Word/Excel/Outlook
• 
  Positive attitude and ability to solve problems
• 
  Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
• 
  Ability to lift up to 50lbs as required
• 
  Flexibility and willingness to work overtime as required

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1. 
   Execute preventative maintenance program as per schedule on all equipment, building and machinery.
2. 
   Conduct diagnostic checks, troubleshooting, and repair for all equipment, plant wide (mechanical, electrical and programmable logic controllers).
3. 
   Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery as required
4. 
   Operate welding equipment, hand tools, and power tools as required and authorized.
5. 
   Perform general building maintenance.
6. 
   Work in a safe manner in accordance with all company policies and procedures as well as occupational health and safety laws.
7. 
   Report any health & safety risks to Operations Manager.
8. 
   Other duties as required by the Operations Manager.

PHYSICAL RESPONBILITIES

Employee must have the ability to engage in the following for a period of 8 hours or more continuously or in combination of the following task: Sitting, standing, walking, driving, climbing/ladders, squatting/kneeling, reaching, grasping, pushing/pulling, twisting/bending, lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs multiple times per shift, fingering, talking, hearing, and seeing.
