Job Summary:

The Maintenance Technician supports IMMI/APLP operations company-wide by performing machine maintenance, repairs, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing machinery, equipment, and facility systems to ensure optimal performance, safety, and minimal downtime. The technician is expected to efficiently manage time and resources while upholding a high standard of professionalism. Responsibilities include both preventive and corrective maintenance to support production and operational schedules across all locations.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and prioritize maintenance tasks to ensure timely and effective completion, while proactively implementing preventive measures to reduce equipment downtime.
  • Communicate maintenance status, updates, or issues to relevant supervisors, especially those impacting production capacity, quality, or safety.
  • Perform general maintenance and installation of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, water, air, plumbing, and IT utility systems, as well as facility-related repairs.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues to ensure compliance with IMMI standards and applicable governmental regulations, including readiness for inspections.
  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to sustain optimal equipment performance.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical malfunctions; repair or replace faulty parts using appropriate tools (hand, power, or precision instruments).
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and work orders through the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Support installation, calibration, and testing of new equipment in collaboration with engineering and production teams.
  • Partner with operations and production teams to plan and execute maintenance activities with minimal disruption to manufacturing schedules.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety regulations and company environmental health and safety (EHS) policies.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to equipment, tools, and maintenance processes for increased reliability and efficiency.
  • Keep maintenance tools and equipment in proper working conditions and report any deficiencies or needs for replacement.

Skills & Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical school certification or associate degree in industrial maintenance, mechanical, or electrical engineering is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in manufacturing, industrial, or facilities maintenance role.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and plumbing systems, supported by relevant training or certifications.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, schematics, and equipment diagrams.
  • Experience operating and maintaining powered industrial equipment; must pass both written and practical certification exams.
  • OSHA safety training certification required (or ability to obtain upon hire).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments; welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
  • Competence with maintenance software and CMMS platforms; basic computer literacy required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to support team coordination and documentation.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks in various working conditions.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends or on-call shifts, as operational needs require.
  • Commitment to comply with all applicable legal, safety, and corporate standards.

Required Tools:

  • Skilled in using hand and power tools (e.g., wrenches, drills, grinders)
  • Proficient with basic electrical testing equipment (e.g., multimeters, voltage testers)
  • Familiarity with torque tools, calipers, and precision measuring instruments
  • Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems)
  • Use of ladders, lifts, and standard PPE in industrial environments

Preferred Tools:

  • Knowledge of PLC troubleshooting tools (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens)
  • Experience with hydraulic/pneumatic system tools and diagnostics
  • Welding and fabrication tools (MIG/ARC preferred)
  • Ability to interpret CAD drawings and technical schematics
  • Experience with advanced diagnostics tools (e.g., thermal cameras, vibration sensors)

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to visually inspect and interpret designs on screen and in print.
  • Use of functional Core Tools

Working Conditions/Environment:

  • This work is deadline-oriented, requires multitasking, fluctuating work schedule, and flexibility within the workday. Must be able to maintain 24-hour availability, including off-shift access via phone
  • Frequent use of a computer and other office equipment is necessary
  • Requires the ability for close vision, distance vision and depth perception
  • Requires working and interacting with others, both in person and through phone, electronic, and written correspondence, and the ability to listen effectively, communicate clearly, maintain attention to detail, and perform focused work
  • The following motions can be required during the day: Standing or sitting for extended periods of time, stepping up & down, balancing, bending (hip & knees), reaching, standing, walking, pulling, pushing, lifting (from floor to waist, waist to chest, chest to head), observing, hearing, grasping, pressing, and other repetitive actions
  • Requires continuous motion throughout the day, utilization of tools, equipment, and industrial vehicles, the ability to lift 50lbs, and perform physically demanding tasks as deemed necessary
  • This work requires the proper attire and use of PPE which can include eyewear, steel toed protection, hard hat, gloves, earbuds, and other PPE as deemed necessary
  • This position requires working with various temperature conditions
