The Maintenance Tech is self-directed and able to work independently with minimal supervision with the ability to prioritize for maximum productivity. Able and willing to learn new systems, provide supervision and assistance for both Maintenance Work I and II as needed, analyze and research all existing systems.Has comprehensive knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. Is able to assess, diagnose, and make any and all repairs. Participates in on-call, carrying emergency phone & respond to after hour emergency maintenance needs. Good written and verbal communication skills are also required.
• Ability to identify, seek and obtain professional assistance with current/potential structural issues.
• Ability to maintain or modify existing electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems under supervision with required assistance.
• Anticipate potential system issues/needs and plan work accordingly.
• Ability to learn & use computer control systems for heat and A/C
• Knowledge of preventive schedules and ability to complete on time without supervision.
• Complete interior and exterior building repairs without minimal assistance
- Able to communicate as necessary orally and in writing, including via cell phone and
- email – required.
- Able to work and/or be on-call nights, weekends, and holidays – required.
- Able to respond to service order requests in a timely manner – required.
- Demonstrated attention to detail – required.
- Strong basic computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office, internet search engines) – required.
- Valid state-issued driver's license – required.
- Must pass Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) background check- required yearly.
- Performs other related duties as required. Assists with other county facility maintenance. Willingness to apply and utilize knowledge and certification/license. – required.
- Strong knowledge and skills in a broad range of building/construction trades such as carpentry,
- painting, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, refrigeration, building alarm and sprinkler systems, and Direct Digital Controls – preferred.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND FORMAL TRAINING:
- High School Diploma
- Preferred Education –Related Trade Certificate
- Minimum Work Experience and Qualifications (Indicate 4 to 6 years of job experience, skills or abilities required for the job)
- Principles and practices of facilities maintenance, methods, materials, and equipment used in building/grounds maintenance work. Must have mechanical, electrical, carpentry, plumbing and heating and air conditioning aptitude.
- County, state, and federal laws applicable to building, plumbing, electrical, and/or mechanical codes.
- Equipment requirements, departmental procedures and processes, and general leadership skills.
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES:
- Must possess a valid state driver's license with a satisfactory motor vehicle record.
- Successful candidates must pass a background.
