As a Maintenance Technician, you will play a hands‑on role in keeping our properties safe, functional, and looking their best. Working under the guidance of the Manager of Facilities and Fleet, you will carry out a wide range of groundskeeping and building maintenance responsibilities across Smithville properties. You will also serve as a mentor to Maintenance Assistants and collaborate with fellow technicians to solve problems and keep operations running smoothly. *In addition to the above, the best candidates will have some experience with drywall installation and finishing, plumbing and electrical work.
This role is primarily field-based, with the majority of time spent outdoors in changing weather conditions (70%). Some outdoor work will take place in an enclosed vehicle or temporary shelter protected from extreme weather (15%). A smaller portion of time is spent indoors in a temperature-controlled environment (10%), with the remainder in non-temperature-controlled indoor spaces such as open garages, warehouses, storage sheds, attics, or crawl spaces (5%).
The typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. However, there will be times when the job requires starting earlier, staying later, working weekends, or coming in unexpectedly due to things like weather, emergencies, or special projects and, can occasionally include holidays. Physical demands include continuous manual dexterity, frequent walking, standing, bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, reaching, pulling, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Close, distance, color, and depth vision are required, along with the ability to talk and hear. Occasionally, the role requires sitting, climbing, and lifting over 50 pounds.
