Job summary

Ability Beyond Barriers is seeking a Maintenance Technician to maintain and improve homes, facilities, and program sites supporting individuals with diverse needs in Conway, SC. You will perform general maintenance, carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and preventive inspections to keep facilities safe, accessible, and welcoming.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least two years of experience in building maintenance or related trades.
• Valid South Carolina driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform general building maintenance and repairs.
• Complete work orders in a timely and professional manner.
• Conduct carpentry, drywall, painting, flooring, plumbing, and basic electrical repairs.
• Perform preventive maintenance and facility inspections.
• Assist with facility renovations and improvement projects.
• Maintain grounds, walkways, parking areas, and exterior building features.
• Coordinate with outside contractors as needed.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance inventory.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and building codes.
• Document completed work and communicate repair needs effectively.

What You'll Do

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

• At least two (2) years of experience in building maintenance, construction, carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, or a related trade
• Valid South Carolina driver's license with an acceptable driving record
• Ability to safely operate hand and power tools
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently while also contributing to a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with residential and commercial facility maintenance
• Experience in multiple skilled trades
• Knowledge of building code requirements and preventive maintenance practices
