The Columbus, Georgia Distribution Center operation is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support all departments by maintaining the equipment and work areas needed to meet production and shipping requirements in a safe, efficient and cost-effective manner.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine building, grounds and equipment maintenance to ensure facilities and equipment remain in good operating condition.
  • Diagnose problems, find solutions and implement all measures necessary to prevent reoccurrence of identified issues.
  • Create and maintain a documented preventive maintenance program, operation-wide, according to company or manufacturer requirements, including safety checks of equipment as necessary.
  • Conduct maintenance and minor repairs of equipment, heating, ventilation systems, air conditioning and refrigeration systems; coordinate with outside vendors when necessary.
  • Recommend and requisition all materials and supplies necessary to perform equipment and building maintenance.
  • Help oversee the facility’s waste disposal & recycling program; ensure waste is disposed of according to appropriate regulations.
  • Perform wood working assignments such as wood crate assembly when necessary.
  • Operate, maintain and clean the assigned building maintenance areas.
  • Perform repair and maintenance of lockable hardware such as doors, automatic electric doors, windows, lockers, and magnetic keying systems.
  • Respond to alarm panel during trouble and fire alarms.
  • Meet regularly with management to determine priorities for improvement.
  • Help foster a safe work environment for all employees by ensuring compliance with government and company safety and environmental policies; report any maintenance concerns or issues to management immediately.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years of facility or equipment maintenance experience in a production environment
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems and maintenance & repair of powered industrial equipment (Crown, Raymond, Jungheinrich, Doosan, Caterpillar & Komatsu)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; demonstrates flexibility and teamwork
  • Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to focus on completion of assigned tasks and to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Working knowledge of 6S and Lean manufacturing principles
  • Experience with OSHA requirements and compliance, and environmental regulations
  • Must use PPE as necessary to safely use manual tools or operate power equipment common in building maintenance
  • Understand basic functionality of fire notification and detection systems
  • Proficient in driving a forklift
  • Requires basic mathematical skills to be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide
  • Requires basic computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft programs such as Outlook
  • Must hold and maintain a valid driver’s license and adhere to the Snap-on Fleet Policy program
  • Ability to lift 20 lbs. frequently and 50 lbs. occasionally
  • Comfortable working at heights and able to move up and down ladders frequently
  • Must be dependable and able to work flexible hours, including overtime as necessary
  • Minimal domestic travel may be required (up to 10%) Snap-on is a drug free work environment and welcomes all qualified candidates to apply.
