Maintenance Technician

Key Responsibilities
- Ensure equipment uptime through timely, in‑depth troubleshooting and repair of all production equipment, including injection molders, blow molders, fillers/cappers, labelers, case packers, conveyors, palletizers, and stretch wrappers.
- Perform troubleshooting and repair of facilities and auxiliary equipment such as chillers, air compressors, reverse osmosis, and other water filtration equipment.
- Collaborate with machine operators, supervisors, preventative maintenance mechanics, and senior maintenance technicians to resolve mechanical issues during shift.
- Propose solutions to complex and recurring problems on production equipment to senior mechanics and management.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems using schematics, technical drawings, and testing equipment.
- Repair equipment, fixtures, systems, conveyors, and other facility equipment.
- Modify, lubricate, diagnose, and operate equipment in accordance with Niagara’s defined processes.
- Maintain industrial control systems.
- Work independently and with team members to complete repairs safely and timely.
- May fill in for a production operator as needed.
- Create and report repairs throughout shift; complete required work order paperwork and document parts and material usage.
- Follow plant safety rules, including safe lifting practices and safe machine operation; use personal protective equipment where required.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance to support equipment and facility uptime.

Qualifications
- Minimum: 4 years of experience in a field or similar maintenance environment.
- Minimum: 4 years of experience in a maintenance position.
- Minimum: 4 years of experience managing people/projects.
- Experience may include a combination of work experience and education.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and resolve issues across multiple departments.
- Basic experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Effective communication of issues and solutions to cross‑functional team members.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.
- Skilled in shop equipment such as hydraulic and mechanical presses, bench grinder, drill press, mill, lathe, and assorted power tools.
- Proficient using precision measuring equipment such as calipers, dial indicators, bore gauges, and depth gauges.
- Willingness to be a technical leader and trainer within a specific plant or machine center area.
- Will need own toolbox and basic tools.
- Preferred: 6 years of experience in a field or similar manufacturing environment.
- Preferred: 6 years of experience in a maintenance position.
- Preferred: 6 years of experience managing people/projects.
- Preferred: Experience in high‑speed manufacturing, bottling, beverage, packaging, or plastics industries.
- Preferred: Experience with VFD, servo drives, servo motors, rotary equipment, thermodynamics, heat transfer, plastic processing, Krones, Sidel, or Husky equipment, HVAC with chillers and/or air compressors.
- Preferred: Experience with electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics for troubleshooting.
- Preferred: Fabrication skills such as cutting and welding (MIG, TIG, or stick).
- Preferred: Skilled with electrical systems including 480 VAC & 24 VDC power.
- Preferred: Ability to read and interpret process and instrumentation diagrams.
- Preferred: Repair experience with VFDs, servo motors, controllers, communication systems (AS‑IBUS, CAN‑BUS, Profi‑BUS, Ethernet), PLC input/output cards, and safety modules.

Education
- Minimum required: High School Diploma.
- Preferred: Associate’s Degree in manufacturing, manufacturing technology, mechatronics, industrial manufacturing, manufacturing automation, or a similar field.
