Job summary

Blue Polymers is seeking an on-shift maintenance technician to service plant equipment, buildings and operations in a manufacturing environment. You will read manuals, perform preventive maintenance, and execute repairs while ensuring safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities include implementing changes, coordinating parts orders, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. Strong problem-solving, English proficiency, and teamwork are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred completion of an Industrial Maintenance program or equivalent.
• Ability to operate forklift and articulated boom/scissor lift.

Job description

Purpose

The primary purpose of this role is to provide on-shift maintenance support for plant equipment, buildings, and operations in a manufacturing environment.

Areas of Responsibility

1. Ensure all equipment, building and plant operations are SAFE and in good working condition.
2. Execute tasks and/or repairs as needed on shift.
3. Implement authorized changes to equipment as necessary on shift.
4. Communicate when parts orders are needed.
5. Read and interpret equipment manuals, schematic diagrams and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
6. Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines.
7. Maintain tools and consumables in good working conditions and well organized.
8. Follow all Quality, Safety, and Environmental Procedures.
9. Uphold the Blue Polymer Code of Conduct Standards.
10. Support Continuous Improvement efforts as needed.
11. Ensure all work is performed to standards
12. Other duties as assigned or requested by the Management Team.
13. Pass a Skills Assessment test to demonstrate the skill set below

Competencies; Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

1. Electrical
   1. 480 VAC installation and troubleshooting
   2. 24 VDC controls and troubleshooting
   3. General Knowledge of PLC operations

1. Mechanical
   1. Plastic injection molding or extrusion machinery experience preferred
   2. Liquid handling Systems. Pumps, Valves, Piping Systems
   3. Conveyor systems and components. Gearboxes, Chain Drives, Bearings

1. General Manufacturing
   1. Manual operation of Mill and Lathe
   2. Welding and or Fabrication
   3. Machine operation and equipment troubleshooting

Minimum Qualifications/ Education / Experience / Certifications

1. Education:

a. Must have High School diploma or of equivalent value.

b. Preferred vocational school Industrial Maintenance program or four years (minimum) work experience.

1. Experience:

1. Ability to operate a fork truck and articulate boom/ scissor lift.
2. Must possess problem-solving skills.
3. Ability to read, speak and write English efficiently.
4. Strong interpersonal skills.
5. Detail oriented and ability to prioritize.
6. Ability to multi-task.
7. Preferred if skilled in Microsoft Excel and Word.

Work Environment / Conditions

The work environment/conditions described herein are representative of what may be experienced and therefore must be adaptable to.

1. Must be comfortable working in a shared space, with constant noise.
2. Schedules may vary from week to week based on business demands of more than 40 hours with or without notice.
3. All injuries regardless of severity must be reported to your Supervisor/HR immediately.
