Job summary

Axalta in Brighton, MI is seeking a Maintenance Technician (Manufacturing) to support daily operations at the facility. The role requires troubleshooting and repairing electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems, calibrating instrumentation, and completing work orders to ensure production runs smoothly.

Shift: Monday – Friday 7 AM – 3:30 PM with occasional overtime. Minimum 2 years in maintenance in manufacturing and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• General maintenance experience in manufacturing or industrial setting.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with inspection and repair skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance inspections, calibrations, and repairs on plant electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
• Calibrate and repair instrumentation such as flow meters, level sensors, temperature transmitters, and actuated valves.
• Complete work orders, maintain logs and spare parts inventories, and support GMP/HSSE practices.
• Assist with engineering projects, install new equipment, and upgrade existing systems.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and work in a team to address priorities.

They will have the mechanical aptitude necessary to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair manufacturing equipment, including, but not limited to, tank mixers, air diaphragm pumps, valves, piping, boilers, and instrumentation.Shift:Monday – Friday 7 AM – 3:30 PM (Occasional overtime depending on business needs)Key responsibilities:Perform general maintenance inspections, calibrations, and troubleshoot repairs on plant electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems to support production.Calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair instrumentation such as flow meters, flow switches, level sensors, temperature transmitters, actuated valves, and associated interlocks.Complete work orders – both preventative and reactive – as prioritized by department and area managers, while continuously looking for adjacent area items that need improvement or are at risk of failing, and either proactively addressing or reporting them to management.Maintain work logs, parts inventory, and preventative maintenance records.Assist with engineering projects including layout and design, specification development and preparation, new product evaluation, data collection, and process and maintenance support.Install new equipment systems or perform upgrades to existing ones.Maintain a clean and overall safe working environment.Minimum requirements:High school diploma or equivalent.Minimum of 2 years' experience performing maintenance in a manufacturing, plant, or industrial setting.Experience with electrical and pneumatic controls is strongly preferredAbility to work overtime, including weekends, as required.Ability to perform frequent physical tasks such as stooping, crouching, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, grasping, climbing, and repetitive motions.Ability to routinely lift and/or exert up to 50 lbs. of force.Ability to work in an environment subject to moderate duration and levels of dust, fumes, chemicals, extreme temperatures, and other environmental factors.Ability to work both independently and within a team environment, with effective written and verbal communication.Ability to adapt to evolving priorities based on business needs.Axalta operates its business in two segments: Performance Coatings and Mobility Coatings, which serve four end markets, including Refinish, Industrial, Light Vehicle and Commercial Vehicle, across North America, EMEA, Latin America and Asia-Pacific.
