Job summary

Cummins Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Technician for our Daventry site. This permanent post comprises 37.5 hours weekly on a three-rotational shift pattern (Morning, Mid, Night).

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, fault finding on automated lines, and ensuring swift return to production. You will need an recognised apprenticeship, experience with PPM, and familiarity with Maximo/Oracle, with safety systems and robotics experience as a plus.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship in electrical or mechanical fitting completed.
• Experience with preventive maintenance techniques (PPM).
• Experience with automated lines is preferred; Siemens S7 PLC knowledge is a plus.
• Proficient in safe systems of work (LOTO, working at height, confined spaces).
• Computer literacy in Maximo, Lotus Notes or Oracle.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance duties in a complex manufacturing environment, primarily in Assembly, Test and Trim areas.
• Fault finding and repair of plant and machinery including automated lines and test cells.
• Ensure equipment is fully functional after maintenance and perform PPMs as scheduled.
• Respond promptly to maintenance events and prioritize tasks with supervisors.
• Review equipment to prevent failures and raise spares requisitions as needed.
• Collaborate with operations to support corrective engineering work and train team members.

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our Power Systems Business Segment in Daventry. This is a permanent role, working 37.5 hours per week on a three-rotational shift pattern, ensuring you have variety and balance in your working schedule.

Shift Patterns:

• Morning Shift: Monday to Friday, 07.00am – 3.00pm
• Mid Shift: Monday to Thursday, 3.00pm – 11.00pm and Friday 10.30pm finish
• Night Shift: Sunday to Thursday, 11.00pm – 07.00am

Competitive Salary Package: £43,806 (depending on experience), plus shift allowance (£105 per week for Mid and £157.50 per week for Night), overtime, annual bonus, and a Cummins Reward Scheme.

What You’ll Do:

As a Maintenance Technician, your role will be pivotal to keeping our operations running smoothly and safely. You’ll:

• Safely undertake a full range of maintenance duties within a complex manufacturing environment. The role will be predominantly working in the Assembly, Test and Trim areas ensuring key equipment is returned to production in a timely manner.
• Fault finding and repair of plant and machinery including automated lines, nut runners, test cells.
• Following job completion all equipment must be functioning correctly and efficiently.
• Timely completion of PPMs to schedule.
• Ensure a timely response to events.
• Review equipment with a view to pre-empt and prevent equipment failure.
• Raise requisitions for equipment spares in line with company cost, quality and delivery requirements and submit to supervisor for approval.
• Respond within skill boundaries for emergency procedure events.
• Liaise closely with Operation’s Supervisors on priorities and initiate analysis of data to support corrective engineering work.
• Support team operation and assist/train others as appropriate.
• Competently follow safe systems of work to complete tasks including working in confined space/at heights, LOTO where necessary.

About You:

To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

• Recognised apprenticeship (Time served electrician or mechanical fitter).
• Experienced in PPM techniques.
• Experience of automated lines (test cells preferable, Siemens S7 PLC knowledge an advantage).
• Experienced in working within Safe systems of work (LOTO, Working at height, Confined spaces).
• Computer literate (Maximo, Lotus Notes, Oracle).
• Able to follow a systematic problem solving process.
• Robotics experience preferred.
