Job description

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and repairing plant equipment at Gowan Milling Blytheville. This position involves troubleshooting, disassembly, cleaning, precision repair, and modifications of existing machinery and systems. The Maintenance Mechanic will work closely under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor to ensure smooth plant operations.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance and repair functions on plant equipment.
  • Disassemble, clean, troubleshoot, and repair equipment.
  • Execute precision repairs and modifications to machinery or systems.
  • Operate and maintain industrial-grade equipment.
  • Follow all company safety policies while performing duties.
  • Utilize MIG, TIG, and Arc welding units, plasma cutter, oxy-acetylene cutting, welding, and brazing equipment.
  • Use precision measuring tools and instruments for repairs.
  • Read and interpret electrical blueprints and plans to ensure accurate repair and maintenance.
  • Safely operate forklifts, power tools, and other necessary equipment.
  • Supply and use personal hand tools for repairs and maintenance.
  • Perform any other maintenance tasks as assigned.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Technical training or certification in maintenance or related field preferred.

Experience / Skills / Abilities:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience working with industrial-grade equipment, including the ability to maintain and repair such equipment.
  • Proficient in MIG, TIG, and Arc welding techniques, along with other related welding equipment.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols in an industrial environment.
  • Capable of following detailed written and verbal instructions in English.
  • Ability to read and follow electrical blueprints and plans.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capable of working in confined spaces and operating power tools safely.
  • Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs, with occasional heavy lifting over 50 lbs.
  • Must be comfortable working at heights and in varying conditions.

Job Expectations / Working Conditions:

  • Ability to move throughout the plant site and production buildings.
  • Regularly required to descend/ascend stairs.
  • Must be able to bend, twist, stoop, kneel, push, pull, and crawl.
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Must adhere to safety protocols and use protective equipment as necessary.
