Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a General Maintenance Technician in New Jersey to repair and maintain building systems and fixtures. You will handle minor heating, plumbing, and electrical tasks, while supporting trade technicians and supervising maintenance staff as needed.

The role requires a high school diploma and a valid NJ driver’s license. A New Jersey Black Seal Boiler License is preferred or must be obtained within 24 months of hiring. This is a full-time, on-site position with a 12-month work year.

Qualifications

• High school graduate with knowledge of general maintenance.
• NJ driver’s license is required; NJ Black Seal Boiler License preferred or must be acquired within 24 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Repairing and maintaining building equipment and fixtures (doors, locks, windows, masonry, drywall, flooring, furniture).
• Performing minor heating, plumbing, and electrical repairs as assigned.
• Assist trade technicians as needed.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks and inspections.
• Assist in supervising contracted services by outside contractors.
• Develop and maintain an inventory of spare parts for equipment repairs.
• Supervise maintenance employees assigned to assist the technician.
• Other duties as assigned by the Director of Buildings and Grounds.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Repairing and maintaining building equipment and fixtures, such as doors, locks, windows, masonry, drywall, flooring, and furniture
2. Responsible for minor heating, Plumbing, and electrical repairs as assigned
3. Assisting trade technicians
4. Performing routine maintenance tasks and inspections
5. Assists in the supervision of contracted services by outside contractors.
6. Develops and maintains an inventory of spare parts for equipment repairs
7. Supervises maintenance employees assigned to assist the technician.
8. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Buildings and Grounds.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12-month work year
