Job summary

Generous Brands is seeking a Maintenance Technician in Bakersfield, CA to perform maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting of plant equipment. You will ensure adherence to food safety and quality guidelines while maintaining a safe work environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and preventive maintenance.
• Locate problems by observing equipment in operation and using testing instruments.
• Verify spare parts inventories for plant equipment.
• Troubleshoot major and minor malfunctions in plant equipment.
• Prepare maintenance reports with data and trends.
• Communicate equipment readiness to production management.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment per procedures and safety rules.
• Contribute to preventive/predictive maintenance plans to improve equipment effectiveness.
• Work safely and in compliance with regulatory agencies and company standards.
• Provide support troubleshooting low-voltage systems.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Be Responsible For In This Role

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing technical maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting malfunctions, following diagrams, sketches, equipment manuals, and manufacturing instructions and installations. Maintenance Technician is responsible for following all food safety, quality practices, and all work safety guidelines.

Job Duties

• Perform manual labor in the execution of repairs and preventive maintenance
• Locate source of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for problems, and using precision measuring and testing instruments
• Help verify spare parts inventories for plant equipment
• Troubleshoot major and minor malfunctions in plant equipment
• Prepare mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
• Communicate with production management on all equipment readiness
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations
• Help develop preventive and predictive plans to increase overall equipment effectiveness
• Exercise good judgment by performing work safely and in compliance with regulatory agencies as well as company standards
• Provide support troubleshooting problems in low-voltage system
• Other duties as assigned

Additional Required Qualifications

• Must have at least 2 years of maintenance experience, heavy emphasis on safety
• Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic control systems, industrial areas
• Ability to read and understand equipment and technical manuals
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
• Ability to use hand tools and trades type tools
• Effective interpersonal skills and ability to adapt to diverse environments

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or GED or equivalent experience in lieu of education
• Basic knowledge in preventive maintenance on all plant equipment (Motors, pumps, conveyors, pneumatic tools, heat exchangers, fluid systems, steam systems, refrigeration, heat exchangers, and basic electronics instrumentation)
• Self-awareness of occupational hazards and standard safety practices/precautions
• Knowledge of Food Quality and Safety program details and responsibilities
• Ability to read and understand equipment and technical manuals

Preferred Qualifications

• Trade or technical school
• 2 years of related experience
• Basic electrical experience

Physical Demands & Environmental Hazards

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to stand and walk for extended period of time.
• Must be able to work in freezer and cold, wet or humid conditions.
• Exposure to noisy, wet and humid work environment, cold temperatures (34°F degrees or below)
• Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals
• Material exposure, moving mechanical parts and equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks etc )
