Job summary

Oldcastle is hiring a maintenance mechanic for an industrial steel fabrication and manufacturing environment. The role focuses on preventive maintenance, safety, and reliable operation of equipment, reading manuals, and coordinating with external support as needed.

The ideal candidate will perform diagnostics on automation, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems, install PLC-based controls, and maintain records of repairs and spare parts.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in industrial maintenance with 5 years related field experience.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and PLC drawings.
• Experience with maintaining welding and metal fabrication equipment preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting and preventive maintenance capabilities.
• Experience with automation systems, electrical systems, mechanical components, and hydraulic systems.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to safety protocols including lockout/tagout and arc flash safety.
• Perform preventive maintenance on machinery and equipment to ensure reliability.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with automation systems, electrical components, mechanical equipment, and hydraulic systems.
• Repair or replace defective parts using knowledge of automation, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic principles.
• Install, configure, and calibrate automation systems (PLCs, sensors, actuators).
• Document maintenance activities and parts inventories; coordinate with production.

Job Summary

The ideal candidate in this role will perform a wide range of duties in an industrial Steel Fabrication and Manufacturing environment. This maintenance mechanic will be responsible for ensuring all equipment is operating safely and efficiently by completing preventative maintenance requirements, repairing equipment, following diagrams, reading operations manuals, troubleshooting malfunctions, coordinating with external vendor support, maintaining records, and organizing spare parts/tools.

Job Responsibilities

• Adhere to safety protocols and procedures, including lockout/tagout, arc flash safety, and other relevant safety measures, to ensure a safe working environment
• Perform preventive maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability
• Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with automation systems, electrical components, mechanical equipment, and hydraulic systems
• Repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems, utilizing knowledge of automation, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic principles
• Install, configure, and calibrate automation systems, including programmable logic controllers (PLCs), sensors, actuators, and other control devices
• Conduct inspections and tests on machinery and equipment to identify potential problems and implement corrective actions proactively
• Collaborate with production personnel and management to address maintenance issues promptly and efficiently
• Document maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance
• Stay updated with advancements in automation technology, electrical systems, mechanical engineering, and hydraulic systems through ongoing training and professional development
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability, efficiency, and performance
• Coordinate work plans with Shop Foremen and Management

Job Requirements

• Knowledge of industry safety protocols and procedures, including lockout/tagout, arc flash safety, hazardous material handling, hoisting and rigging, and other relevant safety measures
• Post-secondary education in industrial maintenance, electrical/electronics, of 5 years related field experience
• Experience with maintaining welding and metal fabrication equipment is strongly preferred
• Strong technical skills in automation systems, electrical systems, mechanical components, and hydraulic systems
• Ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and PLC drawings
• Proficiency with independent troubleshooting and diagnosing issues with machinery and equipment
• Strong computer skills to include OEM parts research
• Experience in mig welding and steel cutting. Fabrication experience is a plus.
• Experience with maintaining welding and metal fabrication equipment is strongly preferred
• Kneeling, bending, stooping, reaching, and possibly otherwise compromising positions in order to access hard to reach machinery components
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
