Job Title Maintenance Technician Job Description Summary Work Schedule: First Shift, Tuesday-Saturday

The maintenance technician’s duties will include (but not limited to) installation, maintenance, operation, and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment and systems; inspecting all mechanical and electrical equipment controls, gauges, distribution panels, and other equipment components to ensure proper operation. This is accomplished by preventative maintenance (PM) and corrective maintenance (CM) work activities.Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain all facilities and facilities service systems in support of the Atlanta History Center and Margaret Mitchell House.
  • Perform multi-craft tasks associated with facilities maintenance.
  • Perform lighting repairs, electrical repairs, and mechanical repairs. This includes but is not limited to all facility infrastructure at the locations.
  • Handle preventive maintenance and down equipment situations.
  • Identify the root cause of problems and countermeasures to prevent recurrence.
  • Perform repairs to and PMs on all facility equipment (doors, plumbing, HVAC equipment, fans, etc.)
  • plumbing (vacuum breakers, sloan valves, faucets, etc.), lighting (bulbs/ballasts, fixture replacement/upfit), HVAC (PM's - filters, grease bearings, clean coils, change belts- CFC license would be preferred but not required), carpentry/patch/paint, door hardware, etc.

  • The ideal candidate would have some experience with workorder and building management systems.

  • Commercial maintenance experience is preferred.

  • Strong customer service and communication skills.

  • Employees must follow all applicable job policies and procedures.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Must maintain positive customer and employee relationships (communications with all).
  • Respond to customer calls.
  • Must know of and be able to demonstrate the use of hand/power tools.
  • Accurate and timely administrative duties to include daily time-keeping and work order completions/updates.
  • Perform assigned tasks in a safe, effective, and efficient manner.
  • Assist in keeping facilities, tools, and equipment in good order and clean.

QUALIFICATIONS: (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Education and/or Experience):

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CFC license is preferred, but not required.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Employee must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence and have the ability to communicate effectively with customers, other employees, and the manager.

A valid driver’s license is required.

The employee will be able to work from elevated areas such as ladders, scaffolds, and platforms.
