Job summary

W3Global in Ashland, VA, seeks a Maintenance Technician to support production by maintaining and repairing mechanical systems throughout the plant. The role emphasizes completing scheduled preventative maintenance and adhering to OSHA and internal safety procedures.

Qualifications

  • 2 to 5 years of proven experience working with mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and piping systems within a manufacturing environment.
  • Thorough understanding of piping systems and mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
  • Must be able to successfully complete RCRA training.
  • Must hold Mobile Equipment Certification for operating aerial platforms, powered industrial trucks, and similar equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, piping, cooling tower, steam, and boiler equipment and systems.
  • Perform shaft, bearing, and coupler installation and alignment.
  • Rebuild and install fluid pumps and gearboxes.
  • Execute basic maintenance welding on various metals using Mig, Tig, and Stick methods.
  • Thread and run copper, stainless steel, and black pipe.
  • Complete industrial motor installation, balancing, and alignment.
  • Handle industrial machine installation and rigging requirements.
  • Maintain the lubrication requirements for all industrial equipment.
  • Plan and perform tasks utilizing a thorough understanding of material properties, operational principles, and mechanical theories.
  • Install, activate, and shut down equipment in strict accordance with OSHA requirements and internal safety procedures.
  • Advise machine operators on the safety requirements and procedures for working with mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Maintain all required maintenance and performance records for identified machinery.
  • Execute preventative maintenance tasks as directed while keeping the work environment clean and safe.
  • Assist operations and maintenance personnel, as well as other technical-level employees, with technical troubleshooting.
  • Complete all other assigned work-related duties.

Position Overview

  • Strong background in Preventative Maintenance.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
  • Physical requirements include talking, hearing, standing, sitting, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and climbing stairs.
  • Requires reaching above and below chest level, as well as using hands to feel, handle, or operate tools, objects, and controls.
  • Must be able to frequently lift and move items weighing over 50 pounds.
  • Requires the ability to work on grated platforms up to 80 feet high.
  • Specific vision requirements include depth perception, color vision, close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The work environment includes frequent exposure to vibration, moving mechanical parts, and potential exposure to chemical or non-toxic dust and fumes.
  • Employees may occasionally be required to enter confined spaces.
  • The work environment is loud, occasionally exceeding 85 decibels, which requires the use of hearing protection.
  • Employees are occasionally exposed to extreme temperatures, including cold environments below 55 degrees and hot environments above 100 degrees.
