Job summary

Nucor's CHI Overhead Doors in Arthur, IL seeks a skilled Maintenance Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair production and facility equipment, prioritizing safety and efficiency.

You will work with electrical panels, PLCs, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, performing preventive maintenance and quick emergency responses in a rotating schedule.

Qualifications

• Must have valid driver's license and strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
• Experience with electrical panels, PLCs, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems preferred.
• Associates degree in related maintenance field is advantageous.

Basic Job Functions: C.H.I. Overhead Doors is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our team in Arthur, IL.

As a key member of our operations, you'll be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production and facility equipment — keeping our lines running efficiently and safely. This role requires a strong blend of mechanical and electrical expertise. You'll work on complex systems including electrical panels, motor controls, PLC systems, and pneumatic and hydraulic equipment. This role centers on preventive maintenance and immediate emergency response. Technicians carry assigned areas of expertise and respond according to which area needs support — scheduled preventive maintenance work is set aside immediately when an emergency call comes in from a production line manager. This role requires flexible scheduling at times, depending on the needs of the business, and may also include mandatory overtime.

Typical schedule is Mon–Fri, 6am–5pm, with one rotating night shift week every 8 weeks (5pm–4am).

This role can be physcially demanding and require heavy lifting at times. The selection process for this role may include an onsite assessment, and usually takes up to 2 hours to complete.

What You’ll Do

Keep Operations Running — Install, maintain, and repair production machines and plant equipment across a variety of systems.

Solve Complex Problems — Apply advanced skills across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems to identify root causes and resolve issues efficiently.

Perform Preventive Maintenance — Conduct regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.

Work from Technical Documentation — Read and interpret equipment manuals, blueprints, and schematics to perform required maintenance and service.

Respond to Urgent Needs — Provide emergency and unscheduled repairs during production, in addition to scheduled maintenance during planned service windows, responding immediately according to assigned area of expertise.

Operate with Precision & Safety — Safely operate various hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment while maintaining clean, orderly work areas.

Compensation

Compensation: $40-50/hour total starting pay .

(This includes a base hourly rate of $25.73-$28.18/hour plus a weekly production bonus.) Current bonus average is 74% Example: Hourly Base Rate = 25.73 | Weekly Production Bonus = 70% | Total Hourly Rate = $43.74 Production Bonus Production Bonus percentage is variable, determinate upon attaining production goals each week. Production Bonus is paid out weekly. Profit-Sharing 10% of Nucor's pre-tax earnings are contributed to the Profit Sharing Plan annually and distributed to all eligible teammates.

A large portion is deposited into your profit-sharing account, and a smaller portion is distributed in cash. Current 6-year average = 19.88% of your eligible earnings. Eligible earnings include regular pay, overtime, and bonus.

Minimum Qualifications

Must have valid driver's license Mechanical aptitude, demonstrated by any ONE of the following: Completion of a craft apprenticeship 2 years of experience in a manufacturing facility or automotive industry Certification as an Electrical Technician or in Industrial Maintenance (any accredited program)

Preferred Qualifications

Associate's degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance. 5+ years of manufacturing experience. Experience with VFD & Servo Drive Systems. Experience in CNC machine maintenance & troubleshooting. PLC experience.
