Job summary

MacLean Power Systems in Alabaster, Alabama is seeking a Maintenance Technician to provide basic technical assistance, assemble electrical systems, and support engineers in design, evaluation and repair of electrical equipment.

Qualifications

  • Accreditation from a technical school or skilled trades program with 0–2 years of experience.
  • Beginning to working knowledge of the subject matter.
  • Perform work under direct supervision.
  • Handle basic issues and refer more complex issues to higher-level staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provide basic technical assistance and resolution when electrical or engineering problems are encountered before, during and after construction.
  • Assemble electrical and electronic systems and prototypes according to engineering data and knowledge of electrical principles, using hand tools and measuring instruments.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other personnel to identify, define and solve developmental problems.
  • Analyze and interpret test information to resolve design-related problems.
  • Draw or modify diagrams and write engineering specifications to clarify design details and functional criteria of experimental electronics units.
  • Install, repair, modify and upgrade industrial control systems; control systems may be relay controlled, microprocess based on PLC logic (i.e., PLC programming and troubleshooting).
  • Conduct inspections for quality control and assurance programs, reporting findings and recommendations.
  • Prepare project cost and work-time estimates when needed.
  • Complete all necessary documents fully and accurately.
  • Adhere to 5S standards (e.g., maintain cleanliness of work area, etc.).
  • Follow all Safety, Environmental and Quality policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
