Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Job Description

This role focuses on troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining industrial electrical and control systems in a modern manufacturing environment. The Maintenance Technician uses advanced diagnostic tools to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of equipment while supporting continuous improvement and minimizing downtime.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and install industrial electrical and control systems to ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • Independently diagnose complex electrical, automation, and instrumentation issues using advanced diagnostic techniques and tools.
  • Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment, HMIs, VFDs, servo drives, sensors, safety circuits, and industrial communication networks.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical equipment to maximize reliability and minimize unplanned downtime.
  • Install, wire, test, and commission electrical equipment, control panels, motors, instrumentation, and automation systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair motor control circuits, power distribution systems, transformers, robotic systems, and production equipment.
  • Support equipment upgrades, automation projects, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance performance and reliability.
  • Assist engineering and operations teams with process improvements and equipment optimization.
  • Perform root cause analysis on equipment failures and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and electrical documentation in accordance with company standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all electrical safety standards, company policies, National Electrical Code (NEC), and Lockout/Tagout procedures.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and production interruptions, including after-hours emergencies when on call.
  • Collaborate closely with operations, engineering, and maintenance personnel to resolve issues and support production goals.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and support extended hours during equipment failures, plant shutdowns, startups, and other critical events.

Essential Skills

  • Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic skills in industrial electrical systems and controls.
  • Strong knowledge of AC/DC electrical circuits, motor controls, electrical distribution systems, and industrial automation equipment.
  • Proficiency in the use of multimeters, megohmmeters, clamp meters, oscilloscopes, and other electrical diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, ladder logic, and technical manuals.
  • Working knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servo systems, sensors, instrumentation, and industrial communication networks.
  • Hands-on experience with installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of motors, drives, transformers, control panels, and electrical equipment.
  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and electrical safety practices, including Lockout/Tagout procedures.
  • Minimum of 3 years of industrial electrical maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment (preferred).
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with production, engineering, and maintenance personnel.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English to understand technical documentation, safety procedures, and work instructions.
  • Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity sufficient to safely troubleshoot, repair, and install electrical equipment.
  • Capability to work safely at elevated heights and from aerial lifts or elevated platforms.
  • Ability to work in varying environmental conditions including heat, cold, humidity, noise, dust, vibration, and exposure to industrial hazards.
  • Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in electrical troubleshooting and electrical maintenance within industrial or manufacturing environments.
  • Experience in industrial maintenance, including mechanical systems, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance programs and maintenance repair activities.
  • Familiarity with HVAC, industrial service, and repair work.
  • Experience with blueprint and schematic reading for electrical and mechanical systems.
