JOB DESCRIPTION
Maintains machines and equipment and trains on preventive maintenance and service on a daily basis. Works with other mechanics and trains on how to service and repair machines and equipment and learn troubleshooting skills. Follows learning plan and achieves milestones in course completion and skill development.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Follows assigned learning plan; achieves knowledge and skill levels required according to the milestones laid out in the Manufacturing Learning and Development Program.
- Successfully completes required courses within the designated time frame.
- Consistently applies knowledge acquired for position according to required milestones.
- Visually and manually inspects, and listens to machines and equipment in case of damage or malfunctions during daily routing work; learns what to look for.
- Keeps and maintains all tools and equipment issued in good condition.
- Learn to use basic power tools, saws, drills and grinders.
- Uses hand tools and demonstrates good mechanical skills.
- Keeps all work areas around machines and equipment clean and safe; follows good housekeeping standards.
- Learn and drive forklift and scissor lift; demonstrates safety and competence.
- Demonstrates willingness and ability to learn welding and fabrication.
- Supports facility maintenance as directed by Maintenance Manager or Shift Manager.
- Learn and use basic electrical knowledge to use an electrical meter and be safe around machines and equipment.
- Work in areas with high heat.
- Maintain reliable and consistent attendance, including punctuality and dependability.
- Execute each essential duty satisfactorily to perform job successfully.
- Follow all safety procedures required in work area, wear PPE as needed, attend all safety meetings, and report safety issues regarding equipment or unsafe/hazardous conditions.
- Perform effectively as a team member, work well with others, open to receiving and giving feedback, treat everyone with respect.
- Takes ownership of own work and behavior, accepts accountability, encourages solutions, and communicates status of work/projects.
- Follow all department quality standards/criteria.
- Raise concerns and issues to immediate manager.
- Understand and demonstrate Cambro company culture, display company core values (Safety, Quality, Respect, and Service).
- Understand department’s key performance indicators and contribute to achieve these goals individually and as a team.
- Other duties as needed or required.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Keeps manager apprised of scholastic progress in assigned learning areas/topics; follows up on needed classes/credits.
- Must be able to work overtime as needed, remain flexible and open to possible schedule changes to meet business needs.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Driving a forklift may be required.
- Completion of basic electrical (Safety, AC/DC theory, use of multimeter for 110, 220, and 480 volts).
- Completion of training on motor controls.
- Ability to use a respirator if needed as the position may be exposed to particulate levels at or exceeding the OSHA permissible exposure limit.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- One‑year certificate from a college or technical school.
- Training on basic hydraulics.
- Training on injection molding.
- Basic training in welding and fabrication.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Sitting, walking, standing, bending at the neck, bending at the waist, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, twisting at the neck and waist.
- Repetitive use of hands, simple grasping, power grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling.
- Reaching above and below the shoulder.
- Carrying/lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Driving cars, trucks, forklifts and other equipment.
- Working around equipment and machinery.
- Exposure to excessive noise, dust, gas, fumes or chemicals.
- Working at heights.
- Use of special visual or auditory protective equipment.
- Walking on uneven ground.
- Operation of foot controls or repetitive foot movement.
- Risk of exposure to biocontamination such as bloodborne pathogens, sewage, hospital waste.
- Ability to use a respirator if needed as the position may be exposed to particulate levels at or exceeding the OSHA permissible exposure limit.
PPE REQUIREMENTS
- Safety glasses.
- Utility gloves.
- Steel‑toe slip‑resistant shoes.
- Hardhat.
- Hearing protection (e.g., ear plugs, ear muffs).
- Face shields.
- Face covering (mask) in accordance with company policy.
COMPENSATION RANGE
$19.72 - $22.00 per hour. Salary may vary based on experience.
