Job summary

Kirby Medical Center is seeking a Maintenance Technician to maintain and repair building systems, oversee preventive maintenance, and ensure a safe, compliant facility for patients and staff.

The role covers plumbing, electrical, HVAC, BAS, doors, lighting, and general building systems. It requires a High School diploma, valid driver’s license, and experience; on-call rotation is included after training. 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday schedule.

  • Valid State Driver's License.
  • Any professional Licenses, not required but preferred (Freon, Electrical, Plumbing, ETC.)

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repairs across plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and other building systems.
  • Schedule, complete, and document preventive and demand maintenance in CMMS.
  • Monitor BAS alarms and maintain life safety systems and emergency power equipment.
  • Assist with construction, renovation, and capital improvement projects.
  • Support infection control, regulatory inspections, and disaster preparedness.

Job Summary

Assists in the performance, maintenance, inspection, repair, and documentation of duties necessary to maintain the physical structure, building systems, utility infrastructure, and associated equipment of the healthcare facility in a safe, efficient, compliant, and reliable operating condition. Performs preventive, predictive, corrective, and emergency maintenance while supporting the daily operations of the Facilities Department to ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
Primary responsibilities include performing maintenance and repairs involving plumbing, electrical, HVAC, mechanical systems, building automation controls, lighting, doors and hardware, carpentry, painting, flooring, and general building systems. Schedules, completes, and documents preventive and demand maintenance through the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), ensuring accurate records and regulatory compliance.
Assists with the operation, inspection, and maintenance of critical facility systems including the Building Automation System (BAS), fire alarm and fire protection systems, nurse call systems, emergency power equipment, generators, medical gas support equipment, low-voltage systems, domestic water systems, and other life safety infrastructure. Monitors and responds to BAS alarms, conducts routine inspections of mechanical rooms, rooftops, utility spaces, and critical equipment, and reports deficiencies requiring corrective action.
Supports facility construction, renovation, and capital improvement projects by assisting with equipment moves, furniture installation, minor construction, demolition, casework modifications, project coordination, warehouse operations, and event support. Performs seasonal snow and ice removal, grounds maintenance, therapy pool maintenance, and other operational responsibilities necessary to maintain hospital facilities and off-site locations.
Assists with Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA), Interim Life Safety Measures (ILSM), utility shutdowns, regulatory inspections, emergency preparedness, disaster response, fire drills, and other activities necessary to maintain compliance with healthcare accreditation standards. Participates in departmental training and works collaboratively with clinical departments, contractors, vendors, and other support services to maintain a clean, safe, functional, and healing environment throughout all hospital and off-site facilities.

Requirements

Regulatory Requirements:

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Valid State Driver's License

  • Three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
