Job summary

Fitesa in Simpsonville, SC is offering a maintenance tech scholar program that provides hands-on experience in industrial maintenance. You’ll work with seasoned technicians on preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs, building skills across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems in a manufacturing setting.

This part-time role (~20 hours/week) pays $20/hour and includes tuition and books paid by Fitesa while you pursue an accredited technical program.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Currently pursuing a technical degree.
• Ability to work ~20 hours/week.

Responsibilities

• Learn maintenance skills across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
• Shadow techs during emergency and scheduled maintenance on production equipment.
• Read and interpret manuals and work orders to perform maintenance.
• Diagnose problems, replace parts, and test adjustments with supervision.
• Shadow preventative maintenance techs while they perform regular maintenance on machines and facilities.
• Use hand tools and power tools, meters, and material handling equipment during duties.
• Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean, orderly work areas.

Description

Our maintenance tech scholar will get hands-on experience in industrial maintenance while working alongside experienced technicians in a manufacturing environment. You'll assist with preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and equipment repairs while building skills in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.

- Pay: $20/hour

- Additional benefits: Fitesa will cover the full cost of tuition and books while enrolled in an accredited technical program.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalency
• Currently pursuing a technical degree
• Ability to work ~20 hours/week

What you will do:

• Learn maintenance skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines
• Shadow reactive techs as they provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service
• Learn to read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service
• Shadow reactive techs while they diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
• Shadow preventative maintenance techs while they perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities
• Learn to use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties
• Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas

Physical Requirements:

• Regularly lift up to 25 lbs, occasionally up to 50 lbs
• Stand and walk for extended periods
• Work in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment
• Work around varying temperatures
• Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision as well as depth perception and ability to adjust focus
