Mission

To provide skilled, hands‑on handyman‑level support to the Facilities team, delivering advanced maintenance, repairs, and project execution that go beyond entry‑level tasks while respecting the boundaries of non‑licensed work. By responding to special projects, urgent needs, and emergencies (when available), contribute to maintaining a safe, functional, beautiful, and well‑cared‑for campus that supports life‑changing ministry and helps people connect deeply with God. Serve with excellence in stewardship, safety, and a solutions‑oriented mindset.

This is a per diem / on‑call position (non‑guaranteed hours, up to 8–10 hours per week as needed). Availability for short‑notice, emergency, evening, weekend, or holiday calls is important, when possible.

  • Independently perform professional‑level repairs in drywall (installation, patching, texturing, painting), plumbing (fixture replacement, leak repairs including underground irrigation, drain unclogging), electrical (outlet/switch/fixture replacement, minor troubleshooting), and basic HVAC support (belt changes, capacitor replacement, unit assistance).
  • Contribute effectively to campus refresh, remodel, or improvement projects while maintaining clean/organized work areas.
  • Respond reliably to available on‑call/emergency needs and communicate progress/issues/materials clearly.
  • Respond to assigned urgent repairs, basic handyman tasks, and project support under the direction of the Maintenance Coordinator.
Within 30 days
  • Complete orientation and demonstrate competency in church‑specific safety protocols, tool usage, work order processes, and communication expectations.
Within 60 days
  • Handle a variety of advanced handyman tasks with minimal supervision, delivering high‑quality, safe, and efficient results.
  • Proactively identify potential issues during projects, suggest solutions, and support team members/contractors as needed.
  • Be recognized as a dependable, calm, skilled contributor who enhances facility readiness for ministry with excellence and flexibility.

Must Have Skills & Responsibilities
  • Advanced Handyman Repairs — perform drywall installation/repairs/patching/texturing/painting; plumbing fixture replacement, leak repairs (including irrigation), drain unclogging; intermediate electrical work (outlets, switches, fixtures, minor troubleshooting); basic HVAC support (troubleshooting, belt and capacitor replacements, etc.) — all within non‑licensed scope.
  • Project & Special Support — assist with campus refresh, remodel, improvement projects, and special assignments.
  • Emergency & Urgent Response — respond to urgent maintenance/emergency repair needs when available.
  • Safety & Tool Usage — safely use tools, ladders, lifts, and equipment; follow all safety procedures, building codes, and organizational policies.
  • Work Area Stewardship — maintain a clean and organized work area during and especially after projects.
  • Collaboration & Communication — work alongside Maintenance Tech I staff, Facilities team, or contractors; clearly communicate progress, issues, and material/supply needs to the Maintenance Coordinator.
  • Independence — work independently with minimal supervision while respecting limits of non‑licensed scope.
