Job summary

McFarland Clinic in Ames is seeking a Maintenance Technician II (full-time) to join our Facilities Management team. You will perform building maintenance, repairs, installations, and remodeling as needed, with emphasis on safety and quality.

The role requires DDC and HVAC knowledge, hands-on trade skills, and ability to read blueprints. A high school diploma or equivalent, plus a trade school certificate, and a valid driver's license are required, with on-call rotation and floating shifts.

Qualifications

• DDC knowledge of system operations.
• HVAC maintenance experience.
• Three years of related trade experience (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC).
• Valid driver’s license and ability to drive company vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Reviews daily assignments to determine special needs and problems.
• Performs building maintenance including repairs, installations, remodeling, and improvements.
• Repairs and moves desks, file cabinets, chairs and other furniture.
• Reviews blueprints/diagrams to ascertain layout and specifications; estimates materials.
• Performs trade skills (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC) as directed.
• Inspects facilities to determine installation, maintenance, and repair needs; maintains inventory.
• Installs and repairs floor and wall coverings; assists with wall board repair, patching, painting, or concrete work.
• Alerts supervisor to unsafe conditions and addresses them.
• Acts as lead to other staff in supervisor’s absence.
• Attends meetings and participates in committees.
