Job summary

Meijer Inc. in Lansing, MI is hiring a Maintenance Tech Level 1 for on-site work in the Distribution Complex. The role emphasizes improving, maintaining, and repairing production and packaging equipment, with a focus on proactive maintenance and safety.

You will support cross-functional teams, perform preventive maintenance, inspect daily operations, and troubleshoot complex equipment issues, ensuring peak equipment efficiency and compliance with SQF, GMPs, and LOTO requirements.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• 1–3 years of hands-on maintenance in manufacturing.
• Food manufacturing experience preferred.
• Knowledge of SQF, GMPs, LOTO and Lean Manufacturing.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
• Knowledge of hydraulic, mechanical and electrical systems.
• MIG/TIG welding and stainless steel for food-grade applications.

Responsibilities

• Support production, quality, safety and engineering projects with maintenance resources.
• Develop, perform and document weekly preventive maintenance procedures.
• Perform daily inspections and adjustments to keep equipment in proper working condition.
• Detect, resolve, document and report complex equipment issues.
• Partner with Maintenance Master and Production Managers to determine root causes.
• Provide training/direction to production leads or operators.
• Maintain 200% safety accountability.
