Job summary

GRT Rubber Technologies, LLC. is seeking a Maintenance Tech I for 2nd shift (5:00 PM–5:00 AM) in Mississippi. The role involves troubleshooting, repair, and fabrication of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, steam and electrical systems, including basic welding.

Base pay is $27.78 per hour plus $1.75 per hour shift differential. Candidates with 5+ years journeyman maintenance and ability to read technical drawings will thrive. Overtime and safety are emphasized.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary vocational training or an associate degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years maintenance experience at journeyman level in industrial maintenance.
  • Ability to read, write and interpret technical documents and drawings (electrical, mechanical, blueprints, P&IDs).

Responsibilities

  • Observe operations to locate problems using testing instruments and dismantle/repair equipment.
  • Develop and perform PM plans; conduct preventative maintenance.
  • Welding and fabrication of machine parts; operate welding equipment per hot work rules.
  • Repair electrical systems such as motors, circuits, starters, relays.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area and complete paperwork/records.

Maintenance Tech I -2nd Shift

Pay Rate $27.78 per hour +$1.75 per hour Shift Differential

Schedule: 5:00 PM- 5:00 AM

Summary:

The Maintenance Tech I person performs duties under the general direction and guidance of the Maintenance Supervisor. He/she should be able to work with limited guidance to perform general maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and/or modification of the plants mechanical and basic electrical systems. He/she will be involved in various fabrication of, and installation & repair of, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, steam, electromechanical equipment, and the installation of electrical conduit and machine/building wiring. (basic welding, plasma and oxyacetylene cutting skills required).

Key Responsibilities:

    • Perform all duties in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and all GRT safety programs and policies. Able to locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
    • Able to remove defective parts by dismantling devices/equipment, using hoists, cranes, tow motors, and hand and power tools.
    • Participate and help develop PM plans and schedules for plant equipment.
    • Perform all preventative maintenance duties to equipment at specified intervals.
    • Continually monitor machinery and make necessary adjustment(s) to ensure proper operation. Adjusts functional parts of devices/equipment and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
    • Perform all levels of welding and mechanical repairs to machinery present at GRT.
    • Repair and possible fabrication of all machine component parts.
    • Excellent general knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and steam systems.
    • Proper use of all welding and cutting equipment related to all phases of metal fabrication and repair, following the hot work permit program rules and guidelines.
    • Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with GRT and OSHA standards.
    • Complete all paperwork and/or electronic updates as required.
    • Regular use of heavy industrial shop tools and equipment including tow motors, aerial lifts, and huggers.
    • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by performing and communicating in a respectful manner that promotes good relationships with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.
    • Help controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques, monitoring their compliance. Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs
    • Maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and requesting expedited orders to prevent downtime when necessary; verifying receipt.
    • Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions & requests and prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
    • Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks.
    • Ability to perform physical requirements of the job (prolonged physical exertions, including standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in awkward positions and tight areas at various heights up to 50 feet).
    • Must possess good working knowledge with all levels of welding and cutting equipment required to perform industrial maintenance welding and fabrication.
    • Must have ability to perform basic wiring, trouble shooting and installation of electrical systems such as, but not limited to, motors, electrical circuits, motor starters, switches, and relays.
    • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays on short notice.
    • Ability to obtain certificate to operate powered industrial lift trucks.
    • Ability to work in all weather conditions.
    • Good written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers.
    • Familiarity with using a computer and desire to learn any required/recommended software.
    • Additional skills may be required to perform additional task(s) specific to work location, department, or line of business

Qualifications:
