Job summary

Smurfit Westrock plc in Silsbee, TX is seeking a Maintenance Technician I to support our extrusion facility. You will perform preventive maintenance, basic electrical and mechanical tasks, and help ensure asset reliability while adhering to strict safety guidelines.

You will log work orders in the CMMS, coordinate with maintenance and production teams, and assist with lubrication, inspections, and routine repairs.

Qualifications

• Must complete Tech I CBT training within 1 year of hire or transfer date.
• Ability to meet work schedule for straight days or rotating shift.
• Associate’s degree preferred; 3–5 years industrial experience preferred.
• Electrical & instrumentation skills; mechanical experience with drives, pumps, equipment.

Responsibilities

• Execute standard lubrication, filter changes, and routine equipment inspections.
• Shadow higher-level techs during complex repairs and machine teardowns.
• Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols and keep workspace clean and organized.
• Log completed work orders and basic parts usage into the CMMS.
• Partner with maintenance and production teams to improve asset reliability.
• Contribute to reactive and proactive maintenance and continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and company standards.

The Opportunity

We are seeking applicants for the MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN I position at our extrusion facility located in Silsbee, Texas. Duties require maintaining assets including lubrication, PM inspections, electrical & mechanical maintenance, hands on learning and support, and maintaining clean organized work areas.

In this role, you will perform routine PMs, provide basic mechanical support, and observe all safety guidelines. You will work closely with the maintenance and production teams and play an important role in asset maintenance and reliability.

What You Need to Succeed

Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in a related field
• Three (3) – five (5) years industrial experience
• Electrical and instrumentation skills
• Mechanical experience in drives, pumps, automotive equipment and related operating equipment
• Excellent troubleshooting abilities and good communication skills
• SAP experience preferred.
