Job summary

SGS Consulting in Nashville is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform routine and preventative maintenance on plant equipment, including pumps, conveyors and dryers. You will inspect, troubleshoot, dismantle, repair and reassemble to restore safe operation, and report issues promptly to supervision.

Safe work requires a high school diploma and a valid driver’s license, with water/wastewater certification and HAZWOPER training when required.

Qualifications

• Requires a valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
• On-site training includes safety, departmental procedures, and OSHA basics.
• HAZWOPER Level I/II First Responder certification if site requires.
• Minimum water/wastewater operator certification as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and preventative maintenance on plant equipment and machinery.
• Lubricate, adjust, and troubleshoot mechanical systems including pumps and conveyors.
• Demonstrate ability to dismantle and reassemble equipment for repairs.
• Assist with general facility maintenance and safe waste disposal per policies.
• Operate vehicles for plant operations as needed.

Job Responsibilities:

Performs routine and preventative maintenance, lubrication and minor adjustments on machines and related equipment which may include pumps, engines, centrifuges, generators, valves, gates, mixers, conveyors, blowers, dryers, chemical feed and odor control, disinfection equipment, vacuum filters and belt presses. Promptly report any operational problems with machines or equipment to Lead or Supervisor.Learn to inspect and become proficient at mechanical troubleshooting to determine repairs needed. Dismantles equipment to gain access to and repairs defective parts using hand tools, power tools and precision measuring and testing devices. Re-assembles and tests equipment ensuring safe and efficient operating conditions are restored. Learn to troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic and electronic equipment and instrumentation.Performs facility maintenance and repair and may replace or install light bulbs, fluorescent tubes, damaged glass, windows, doors, partitions, ceiling or floor tiles, door locks, carpet, and/or paint.May perform manual labor including cleaning equipment, facilities and grounds as required and properly disposes of waste according to safety and environmental policies. Operates vehicles for plant operational purposes.
