Job summary

Our NC facility is temperature-controlled by HVAC.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Performs preventative and corrective maintenance services on manufacturing machines and support equipment as directed by the Maintenance Senior Tech Supervisor to meet production and quality goals.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Manually cleans/dismantles/replaces/repairs defective machines or electrical/electronic, mechanical, hydraulic or pneumatic components of machinery and equipment as directed.

  • Inspects and services lubrication systems for function and maintains grease and oil levels.

  • Performs Preventative Maintenance on production machines and support equipment.

  • Inspects and measures parts to detect wear, misalignment or other problems.

  • Visually and/or manually inspects and listens to machines and equipment to locate causes of malfunctions.

  • Enters codes or other information into computers.

  • Reads blueprints, ladder logic, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics to troubleshoot machines while working with higher level technicians.

  • May serve as a liaison with vendors.

  • Maintain reliable and consistent attendance, including being punctual, and dependable in order to meet the needs of the department and the organization.

  • Execute each essential duty satisfactorily in order to perform job successfully.

  • Follows all safety procedures required in work area, wears PPE as needed, attends all safety meetings, and reports safety issues regarding equipment or unsafe/hazardous conditions.

  • Performs effectively as a team member, able to work well with others, open to receive and give feedback, and treats everyone with respect.

  • Takes ownership of own work and behavior, accepts accountability for own actions, encourages solutions, and communicates status of work/projects.

  • Follow all department quality standards/criteria. Raise concerns and issues to immediate manager.

  • Understands department's key performance indicators and contributes to achieve these goals both individually and as a team.

  • Other duties as needed or required.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work with higher level technicians on installation of new equipment.

  • Use printed or electronic documentation such as manuals, cut sheets or manufacturer websites to verify or expand knowledge on preventative maintenance procedures, frequencies or proper materials.

  • Work with higher level technicians to increase knowledge of equipment operations, preventative and corrective maintenance procedures and practices and troubleshooting processes.

  • Must be able to work overtime as needed, remain flexible and open to possible schedule changes in order to meet business needs.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

  • At least one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical maintenance.

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.

  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Ability to use a respirator if needed as the position may be exposed to particulate levels at or exceeding the OSHA permissible exposure limit.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as mechanical, electrical and hydraulic prints or schematics, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • At least one-year maintenance experience in one or more of the following: injection molding, Compression Molding, Composite Molding and Roto Mold manufacturing environments.

  • Basic to intermediate electrical training or experience with single and three phase electrical circuits up to 480 volts.

  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, job related internet research and ability to learn our CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Software) for daily use.

  • Functional knowledge of mechanical components (valves, pipe fittings, bearings, motors, gearboxes, etc.).

  • Trade or vocational school degree.

  • Training/certification in operating electric or propane fueled forklift, scissor lift, boom lift.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Sitting, walking, standing, bending at the neck, bending at the waist, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, twisting at the neck and waist, repetitive use of hands, simple grasping, power grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling, reaching above and below the shoulder, carrying/lifting up to 50 lbs.

  • Driving cars, trucks, forklifts and other equipment.

  • Working around equipment and machinery.

  • Exposure to excessive noise.

  • Exposure to dust, gas, fumes or chemicals.

  • Working at heights.

  • Use of special visual or auditory protective equipment.

  • Walking on uneven ground.

  • Operation of foot controls or repetitive foot movement.

  • Risk of exposure to bio-hazard while working such as: bloodborne pathogens, sewage, hospital waste, etc.

  • Ability to use a respirator if needed as the position may be exposed to particulate levels at or exceeding the OSHA permissible exposure limit.

PPE REQUIREMENTS
  • Safety glasses

  • Utility gloves

  • Steel-toe slip-resistant shoes

  • Hardhat

  • Hearing protection (e.g. ear plugs, ear muffs)

  • Face shields

  • Face covering (mask) in accordance with company policy.
