Cheeze Kurls in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to perform routine equipment upkeep, preventive maintenance, and safety-compliant facility tasks in a manufacturing setting.

You will follow GMPs, operate lifts, and assist with light plumbing and carpentry while ensuring a clean, safe work area and reliable production support.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; 1–3 years related experience.
  • Mechanical aptitude and technical skills.
  • Skilled in the use of common hand and power tools and measuring devices.
  • If operating a motor vehicle, safe operation skills required.
  • Basic electrical, mechanical, plumbing and HVAC understanding.
  • Capable of operating man lifts and boom lifts.

Responsibilities

  • Follow GMPs, uniform and dress code, and product safety requirements.
  • Maintain departmental housekeeping standards, keeping work area clean and safe.
  • Maintain a good attendance record and positive attitude.
  • Support company policies and safety conscious at all times.
  • Address or report safety concerns immediately.
  • Ensure equipment is lubricated properly by checking and greasing equipment.
  • Check bearings, chains, and belts for abnormal wear; replace as necessary.
  • Perform preventative maintenance as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Facility maintenance.
  • May be required to do light plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical tasks.
  • Assist with mechanical breakdowns.
  • Assist in the maintenance and repair of the grounds.
  • Remove trash, sweep walkways, and shovel snow.
  • Work extended schedules as the needs of the business dictate.
  • Operate forklifts, manlifts and boom lifts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job description

Qualifications, Education and Experience
  • Requires education generally equivalent to a high school diploma and one to three years related experience to become familiar with equipment and processes.
  • Mechanical aptitude and technical skills.
  • Must be skilled in the use and operation of common hand and power tools and measuring devices.
  • If assigned to operate a motor vehicle, must have skills and knowledge to accomplish safe operation of the vehicles operated.
  • Experience in performing duties as described and the ability to follow oral and written instructions involving those duties.
  • Basic electrical skills including use of voltmeters, ohmmeters and pipe benders.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems.
  • Capable of operating man lifts and boom lifts
Language Skills

1. Ability to read and write English.

2. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

3. Ability to write simple correspondence.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands
  • The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or touch objects, tools, or controls; reach above shoulders; and talk and listen.
  • The employee is occasionally required to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and use foot/feet to operate machine.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job included close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to work at heights, climbing ladders, stairs and operating manlifts and boom lifts.
