Job summary

Abington Memorial Hospital is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to install, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on a wide range of mechanical equipment and building systems at its Pennsylvania campus. You will dismantle, reassemble, inspect, and maintain safety, lighting, plumbing, HVAC, and control systems to ensure reliable operation.

Responsibilities include responding to maintenance calls, recording inspections, supporting other trades on complex repairs, and adhering to safety

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent required.
• Journeyman Mechanical Maintenance or equivalent required.
• Knowledge of electrical safety and lockout/tagout standards is essential.
• Experience with maintenance and repair of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs urgent, corrective, routine, preventive, and requested repairs of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing equipment and systems.
• Maintains records of inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs.
• Maintains and repairs distribution systems involving vacuum, medical air, medical gas systems and air compressors.
• Maintains pneumatic equipment in engine rooms, such as hot water convertor, thermostats, induction units, sump pumps and related piping.
• Checks all mechanical area equipment.
• Handles maintenance calls from the main office.
• Assists other trade maintenance technicians with more complex repairs as needed.

• Performs all urgent, corrective, routine, preventative, and requisitioned repairs of electrical, mechanical and plumbing equipment and systems.
• Maintains routine records of all inspections, preventative maintenance and repairs performed on any equipment or system.
• Maintain and repair distribution systems involving vacuum, medical air, medical gas systems and air compressors.
• Maintain and repair pneumatic equipment located in engine rooms, such as hot water convertor, thermostats, induction units, sump pumps and all piping pertaining to the function of this equipment.
• Make checks of all mechanical area equipment.
• Handle maintenance calls from the main office.
• Assist other trade maintenance technicians with more complicated repairs as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent; additional education and/or training required
• 3 years of related experience required
• Journeyman Mechanical Maintenance (or equivalent). Understanding of electrical safety and lockout/tagout standards.
• Knowledge of and ability to ensure safe practices in daily operations and effective maintenance and repair services for physical premises.
• Knowledge of successful approaches, tools, and techniques for dealing with changes and adapting to a changing environment, ability to adapt as needed.
• Knowledge of and ability to use tools and techniques to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from an emergency.
• Knowledge of approaches, tools and techniques for anticipating, recognizing and resolving technical (mechanical, electrical, systems or operational) problems.
• Knowledge of HSE policy, ability to implement HSE policies to ensure that provided products and services are safe for people and the environment and in compliance with legal requirements and standards.
• Knowledge of and ability to utilize practices, tools, and techniques for communicating with a customer.

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent; additional education and/or training required
• 3 years of related experience required

Physical Demands

Lift over 50 lbs. Push/pull up to 140 lbs. Carry 80 lbs. short distances. Frequent standing/walking, squatting, kneeling, crawling, climbing and reaching overhead.
