Job summary

Sabre Industries is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to perform general maintenance duties for a large galvanizing manufacturing facility in Sioux City, IA. You will ensure machinery operation, follow manuals, troubleshoot malfunctions, and perform preventive maintenance on engines, motors, and production equipment.

The role requires the ability to observe and diagnose issues, use testing instruments, and maintain safety standards.

• Removes defective parts and uses hoists, cranes, and hand tools for repairs.
• Adjusts components and control instruments as needed.
• Maintains inventory of equipment, parts, and supplies.
• Prepares maintenance reports and maintains technical knowledge.
• Communicates actions and needs to team members; maintains safety and cleanliness.

Scope of Responsibility:

Perform general maintenance duties for large galvanizing manufacturing facility.

• Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, overhead crane systems, and production machines; follows diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
• Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
• Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
• Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools and electrical measurement tools.
• Controls downtime performing routine preventive maintenance and monitoring production equipment.
• Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies.
• Prepares maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information.
• Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks.
• Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
• Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift 50 lbs
• Good hand eye coordination
• Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving entire body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, bending, twisting and handling of materials
• Must be able to work in an outside manufacturing environment for long shifts, including weekends
• Position requires manual dexterity, arm-hand steadiness and a safety-minded individual
• Must be able to work in an open environment exposed to extreme temperatures
• Must have the ability to concentrate on tasks for long periods of time and be able to observe and receive information from all relevant sources
