Responsibilities

• Operates machinery and equipment by performing preventive maintenance per manuals and specs.
• Identifies problems by observing equipment in operation and using measuring tools.
• Removes defective parts using hoists, cranes, and hand/power tools.
• Adjusts functional parts with hand tools and electrical measurement tools.
• Monitors downtime and ensures preventive maintenance is carried out.
• Maintains inventories of equipment, parts, and supplies.
• Prepares maintenance reports by collecting and analyzing data.
• Keeps technical knowledge up-to-date via workshops and publications.
• Documents actions and communicates needs to sustain team continuity.

Scope Of Responsibility

Perform general maintenance duties for large galvanizing manufacturing facility.

Essential Duties

• Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, overhead crane systems, and production machines; follows diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
• Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
• Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
• Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools and electrical measurement tools.
• Controls downtime performing routine preventive maintenance and monitoring production equipment.
• Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies.
• Prepares maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information.
• Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks.
• Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
• Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Other duties as assigned, directed, requested, or needed.

• Must be able to work in an outside manufacturing environment for long shifts, including weekends
• Position requires manual dexterity, arm-hand steadiness and a safety-minded individual
• Must be able to work in an open environment exposed to extreme temperatures
• Must have the ability to concentrate on tasks for long periods of time and be able to observe and receive information from all relevant sources
