Job summary

Alamo Group Ag Americas, LLC in Selma, Alabama is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support maintenance and repairs in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing plant. You will perform tasks like repairing air leaks, lubricating equipment, installing fans and lights, and assisting with PMs while maintaining safety and housekeeping.

The role requires basic mechanical skills, knowledge of hand tools, a good reading ability, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Basic mechanical skills and ability to use common hand tools.
• Ability to read and follow instructions and safety procedures.
• Basic welding skills and forklift/mobile lift operation knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance tasks including repair of air leaks, lubrication, and minor repairs.
• Support PMs and repairs on production equipment with higher-level technicians.
• Reroute conveyors, move machinery, run lines for gas and air, and install fans/lights.
• Test equipment after maintenance and ensure safe, clean work area.
• Assist supervisor on projects and follow safe work procedures.

The Maintenance Technician is a key position in the Company and will support and contribute to the company goals of profitability, return on investment, inventory turnover, and accident prevention. The Maintenance Technician, under general supervision, will perform general maintenance task such as repair of air leaks, fans, facility lighting, chain hoist check and minor repairs, lubrication of equipment, and other simple tasks. Work with and assist higher level maintenance technicians with the PM and repairs of production equipment.

Essential Functions of the Job:

• Focus, communicate, encourage and contribute to Safety in all aspects of the job and all company meetings
• Competent and resourceful while performing tasks
• Work on special projects; such as but not limited to, rerouting the conveyor, moving machinery, running gas and air lines, fan installations, light installations
• Test and verify proper operation of equipment upon completion of maintenance tasks
• Observe and practice good housekeeping and safe work procedures while performing all assigned duties
• Project work as needed to improve process and department flow
• Assist department supervisor in any projects or processes as needed
• Perform any other duties which may be assigned by Supervisor

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s):

• Basic mechanical skills
• General knowledge of hand tools and their function
• Ability to listen to and/or read instructions and follow them
• Basic welding skills
• Safe forklift and mobile lift equipment operation. Valid Driver’s License (required)

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2+ years’ experience in maintenance or a technical degree, preferred

This position works in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing plant environment. Must be able to lift, push, carry and/or pull 50 pounds alone; able to stand for extended periods of time (up to 10 hours), able to work in confined spaces and able to climb over 4 feet high. Frequent walking, bending, stooping and lifting required.
